Jeezy Is Focused on Who He’s ‘Becoming’ — Not Who’s ‘Coming with Me’ — amid Jeannie Mai Jenkins Divorce

Jeezy is focusing on himself in the midst of his divorce from Jeannie Mai Jenkins.

The rapper made the post on Instagram on Thursday — a day before PEOPLE obtained documents revealing that he filed for divorce from Really host — to share a series of confident photos with a caption that seems to hint at a split.

“I’m too focused on who I’m becoming to focus on who isn’t with me,” wrote Jeezy, 45, who was married to Jenkins, 44, for two and a half years.

In her filing, the Grammy-nominated star said the former couple — who had a prenuptial agreement — “currently live in a bona fide state of separation” and that their marriage is “irretrievably destroyed” with “no hope of reconciliation.” .”

The document also states that Jeezy (née Jay Jenkins) wants to share joint legal custody of the couple’s daughter, Monaco. (He is also the father of two children from previous relationships.)

Representatives for none of them immediately responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was the first to publish the news.

Nine days before the divorce news broke, Jenkins shared a sweet Instagram post that showed her and Monaco celebrating Jeezy’s marriage The New York Times Best Seller List for his book, Trouble for sale.

“Today I’m celebrating an extraordinary milestone achieved by my husband, @jeezy, whose memoir ‘Adversity For Sale’ jumped to the New York Times bestseller list,” she wrote in the caption.

“This moment is not only a validation of your literary skills, honey, but also a recognition of your ability to inspire with the power of storytelling,” Jenkins continued. “I am beyond grateful for your voice in this world. It is an honor to walk beside you my love🖤”

Jenkins and Jeezy married in March 2021 at their Atlanta home and welcomed their daughter in January 2022.

The couple celebrated their two-year anniversary in March with a surprise trip to Vietnam that Jenkins organized for her husband as a “long-awaited adventure”.

“When Jeezy and I met, we bonded over the similarities and differences of our cultures,” she told PEOPLE at the time. “Now that we have a daughter to bring our worlds together, it makes even more sense to explore Vietnam together as a multicultural family.”

Jeezy had originally planned to pop the question in Hoi An, Vietnam in April 2020, but was forced to change his plans after COVID canceled the trip.

“When Jeezy proposed to me, he decorated his apartment to look like Hoi An. It brought our engagement memories full circle when we finally went to Hoi An for the first time,” Jenkins said of their vacation.

The couple first met on the set of Jenkins’ daytime talk show Reallyand quietly began dating in November 2018. They eventually went public with their romance in August 2019.

“We’ve both been through enough in life to bond over the understanding that love should be safe, fair and pure,” Jenkins told PEOPLE that November. “It was an instant magnetic attraction. We’re very drawn to each other’s passions to serve. So because we have a shared joy in having a purpose, we’ll find a way to do it together.”
