Jeff Bridges' 3 Children: All About Isabelle, Jessica and Hayley

Jeff Bridges is “The Dude” for The Big Lebowski fans, but he’s just a father to his three children—Isabella, Jessica, and Hayley—with longtime wife Susan Geston.

Jeff became a father for the first time in 1981 when he and Geston welcomed Isabelle. He was already a movie star working on 1982 Thronewith more than a dozen films behind him. Old man the actor says his successful career has been a double-edged sword when it comes to his family.

“You’re trying to make good movies … it’s very arbitrary,” he said Show Off Camera in 2019. “I’m making money so we can afford to live the way we want and the kids can go [to good] school … but later in life, I cried with my daughters … I missed so much.”

“When I’m raising them, everything happens so fast,” he added. Jeff is proud of the women his girls have grown into, as Isabelle is a writer, Jessica works as a musician, and Hayley enjoys her career in interior design. All three had the opportunity to work on projects with their father.

One thing that brought them closer than ever was Jeff’s health. A battle with cancer and two bouts of COVID-19 in recent years “have heightened the experience of most of my life philosophies,” he shared with PEOPLE in 2023.

“It all comes down to that corny ‘L’ word — love,” the Bad times at the El Royale star added. “[They] they have been very supportive regarding cancer and COVID. It just brought to my attention how much they loved me and how much I loved them.”

Jeff and Geston welcomed their first child – a daughter, Isabelle – on August 6, 1981. Over the years, Tron: Legacy the actor said his wife did most of the work raising the girls when they were young in the family home in Santa Barbara while he shot movies around the world.

Isabelle has always admired her parents’ sweet relationship, telling PEOPLE, “They love each other, but they love each other, they spend time together. They try to ask each other questions about things that interest each other.”

Isabelle took that inspiration into her own marriage to college sweetheart Brandon Boesch, whom she met while attending Pepperdine University. The couple exchanged wedding vows in the family home in Santa Barbara in 2007.

“I’ve always dreamed of getting married at our house,” said Isabelle Inside the wedding. “I knew I was going to get married on 7/7/2007 since high school. I don’t know how I knew, but I just did!”

More than a decade later, they’re still going strong. “16 years ago I married my best friend,” Isabelle wrote on Instagram in 2023. “Together we created life, babies and magic. I’m so in love! 😘♥️🥰.”

The duo turned Real courage star and Geston became grandparents with their two children: Gracie and Ben. The kids affectionately call Jeff “Dudie” or “Dude-pa.”

These days, Isabelle and her family live in the Bay Area, where she works at her own business, The Mother’s Empowerment Sisterhood. She is also the author of children’s books, she published her first title, Daddy’s Daughter’s DayIn 2020, Jeff was an illustrator on a project that shared Isabelle’s memories with him.

“Like my father, I was away for most of Isabella’s childhood because of my job and making movies, so I’m trying to do my best to try and make up for some of that,” he told Billy Shore’s Share our strength podcast. “For some reason, we need reasons to get together, and this was a great reason to get together with our daughter… [it was] a lot of fun!”

Jessica was born on June 14, 1983, and although not much is known about her childhood and teenage years, Jeff shared that he once brought his girls to The Big Lebowski set.

“I meant [it] it would be fun, he continued Show Off Camera. “The girls came over, I put cones on them and took a bunch of pictures of them.”

Unfortunately, the scene turned out to be unpleasantly raunchy. “I thought, ‘Why the hell did I invite my girlfriends and wife to come to that scene?’ “, he recalled. “What was I thinking, man?!”

Jessica was the only daughter to follow her father into the entertainment industry. “Jessie, my middle daughter, we play music all the time; sometimes she opens for me, so we play music; that’s our relationship,” he said of their relationship.

Jessica keeps her personal life a secret, but she doesn’t miss an opportunity to celebrate the relationship she has with her father. “I love you, Dad!!! Life is a wild ride with you by my side,” she captioned the sweet Father’s Day 2015 photo.

Hayley Roselouise Bridges, 38

Jeff and Geston welcomed their youngest daughter, Hayley, on October 17, 1985. While her sisters have moved away from their hometown, she still lives nearby and spends a lot of time with her parents.

“Hayley, my baby, she’s the only one who lives in Santa Barbara,” Jeff said Show Off Camera. “She’s a wonderful interior designer and we work on houses together.”

According to Hayley, after their family settled in Santa Barbara in 1994, they began to travel more and she experienced different cultures in fascinating settings. This inspired her to pursue interior design after graduating from Loyola Marymount University.

She posts on Instagram about her business, Hayley Bridges Design, and the transformations she helps bring to life, from stylish living rooms to relaxing outdoor spaces.

Hayley was Jeff’s biggest supporter as he went through his battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in October 2020 and dealing with COVID-19 in January 2021. His daughter’s upcoming wedding was a major driving force on his road to recovery, as he dreamed of to escort her down the aisle.

“The first goal was how long I could stand,” he said The Independent 2022 “Finally, one day I said, ‘Maybe I can do it, you know.’ And it turned out that not only did I walk her down the aisle, but I also got to do the wedding dance. That was great.”

Hayley married her longtime love Justin Shane in Santa Ynez, surrounded by family and friends, and her father couldn’t have been happier.

Jeff even gave a sweet welcome speech that “touched on a quality about Justin that I also mentioned in my vows, which is that kids and dogs love him,” Hayley said Brides. “I believe this is an example of his wonderful energy.”
