Whoopi Goldberg Clarifies She Hasn’t Been to Jail Despite Comment on The View: ‘Don’t Get It Twisted!’

Whoopi Goldberg has had many titles in her career, but “prisoner” is not one of them.

The comedian and EGOT winner closed Wednesday’s episode View insisting she’s never been in jail, despite commenting that she’s previously been behind bars earlier in the show.

“Don’t get it twisted, I’m a comedian. So stop looking, ’cause that’s what I know is going on,” joked Goldberg, 68. “‘When was she in jail?’ You’ll be looking till the cows come home, baby!”

Her words seemed to be just as helpful to the Goldbergs View co-hosts Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin, who accepted the jokes earlier in the show.

The topic was created when View debuted a new segment called “Drop the Topic,” in which the hosts were challenged to discuss a mysterious Hot Topic as a sort of punishment for disagreeing on the topic in a pre-production meeting.

After pulling an option out of the bag, the ladies were asked, “Would you rather hike the Appellation Trail alone or spend six months in jail?”

Goldberg remained largely silent as Haines, 46, Behar, 81, Hostin, 55, and Farah Griffin, 34, discussed their options. But when Farah Griffin asked Goldberg, “What would you do?” she stunned the ladies with her answer.

“Well…I did both,” Goldberg said, his face calm.

As the women reacted, Behar sought more information from her longtime friend. “When were you in jail, Whoopi?” she wondered.

“It doesn’t matter, does it?” Goldberg said, keeping a stern look. — I’ll tell you about it.

Then, amid the co-host’s frustration with the discussion, she returned the show to the original topic they had previously aired.

“Well, you’ve given up on a pretty good topic to talk about,” Goldberg explained. “The second topic was about a man and a woman, the woman says she doesn’t like the kind of sex her husband has [has with her.] She calls it ‘vanilla sex’. I said, ‘So what kind of things are you looking for?’ They didn’t have an answer to that!”

Coming up Sister, act 3 The star then gave the perfect advice to women.

“She should have just gotten herself something to put the battery in,” Goldberg joked. “Put some google eyes into it and talk to him and let him say whatever he needs to – Yes, no, yes, no.”
