Jeffrey Dean Morgan Announced as Host of New Travel Competition Series Destination X

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is ready to take the plunge as he takes on a brand new role: TV host.

The the walking dead star, 58, has been announced as host of NBC’s newest competition series, Destination X.

“A larger-than-life adventure competition series,” Destination X blends “fantasy with reality,” according to the official description, as the audience “follows the contestants as they embark on the journey of a lifetime, but have no idea where they are.”

“In order to win, they must discover their mysterious locations. Once they find themselves on the darkened Destination X bus, the journey turns into a real game board, with challenges designed to offer clever clues to their location, along with a few misdirections to keep them guessing,” the description continues.

The first competitor to reach the unattainable Destination X”will be declared the winner,” and eliminations will occur at the end of each episode, as “the contestant who places the X on the map furthest from the actual location packs their bags.”

In a public statement, Morgan said: “Destination X won me over with its mix of travel, mystery and games. I can’t wait to embark on this wild guessing game around the world as Master of Ceremony, leading players through challenges that test their mental and physical abilities.”

“Jeffrey Dean Morgan embodies the mischievous international man of mystery, making him the perfect host and puppeteer for this new travel adventure series,” Corie Henson, NBCUniversal’s executive vice president of unscripted content, competition and gaming, also said. “He is dashing, charming, playful and the ultimate companion!”

Where to watch every season The living dead

Destination X marks Morgan’s first non-scripted role, but it won’t be the only series he premieres next year.

At San Diego Comic-Con in June, Morgan and his The Walking Dead: Dead City costars delighted fans by premiering a new teaser for Season 2 of the spin-off series, which is a direct sequel to the original The living dead series.

Morgan reprises his role as Negan alongside Maggie Lauren Cohan, and the characters “find themselves trapped on opposite sides” of post-apocalyptic Manhattan in season two as the escalating war for control of the city reaches new heights, according to the official synopsis.

“As their paths intertwine, they realize that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined.”

Destination X is scheduled for premiere in 2025.
