Who would have thought Jelly Roll’s “most frivolous habit” would involve socks?
The two-time Grammy-nominated country singer, 39, revealed one of his biggest secrets to fans while chatting with Queens’ Sabrina of Audacy ahead of the 59th ACM Awards last week.
“Can I tell you about a frivolous habit I have?” said the “Save Me” artist. “Don’t judge me for this, everyone. I promise I grew up very modest, but I only wear socks once.”
The “Wild Ones” singer admitted he buys his socks “in bulk” so he doesn’t wear them again, saying: “It’s the most frivolous thing I’ve done with my success.”
“Sorry, I hope I didn’t let anyone down,” he added, “but when you’re fat, you can’t have smelly feet, so you have to have fresh socks!”
Amidst his recent success, Jelly has been committed to his health journey and focused on improving his physical fitness. Last month, the music star told PEOPLE, βI probably lost about 70 pounds,β just ahead of her participation in the 2 Bears 5K with Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. He finished the 5K on May 7 with his wife, Bunnie Xo, by his side, cheering him on.
“What a beautiful day with beautiful people! So proud of my baby doing 5k and losing 50lbs to do it! π«,β she captioned the Instagram post, which included a PDA video of the couple cuddling in a cold tub.

Reflecting more on his fitness progress with PEOPLE, Jelly shared, “I’m really kicking myself, man. I’m doing two to three miles a day, four to six days a week. I’m doing 20 to 30 minutes in the sauna, six minutes in a cold bath every day, I’m currently eating healthy.”
“I feel really good,” he added about the lifestyle change. “I was thinking, I plan to lose another 100, 100-something [pounds]. If I’m feeling this good at this weight, man, I can only imagine how I’m going to feel by the time I go on tour.”
Jelly kicks off her Beautifully Broken tour later this summer, stopping in 37 cities across the US. His tour β which will see him joined by musicians Warren Zeiders and Alexandra Kay β kicks off in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 27th and ends exactly two months later in Charlotte, NC.

At this year’s ACM Awards, Jelly was nominated in four categories β including Entertainer of the Year β and also performed at the ceremony on May 16 in Frisco, Texas. Reacting to his first nominations, the country singer told PEOPLE, “It’s just amazing.”
“I’ve spent my whole life just thinking that what I do will never be heard or seen,” he added. “I had almost given up any dream of this thing ever being what it is now, and man, it’s just amazing to be in the middle of it. I’m grateful.”
Jelly Roll ended up being the local music event of the year for “Save Me” with friend Lainey Wilson.
