Charli XCX believes in healthy competition when it comes to studio time with her fiance George Daniel.
In an interview for the cover story with Rolling Stone UK released on May 16, the “Speed Drive” singer opened up about working with The 1975 drummer in the studio for her upcoming album BRAT.
“We want to impress each other and we think we’re both really good, but I’m actually such a bitch in the studio with George,” Charli, 31, told the outlet. “Since we’re obviously so close, you’re losing everything in terms of normal studio boundaries.”
She added: “We flow really well and he leaves a lot of room for people to breathe and be themselves and do their process.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the “Von Dutch” singer talked about her upcoming album, which is set to be released on June 7, and said it’s essentially a club record.
“Club electronic music is what makes me most alive. My nightmare is to see a pop show or, like, a band,” Charli said.
“Which is funny, obviously, because: George. You can put it; he knows how I feel about it,” she said, adding that for her, electronic music represents “sadness and beauty and silence — it does something almost chemical to me, I think.”

So far Charli has released the singles “360,” “Von Dutch,” “Cult Classics” and “B2b.” Earlier this month, she released the star-studded music video for “360,” including Chloë Sevigny, Julia Fox, Gabbriette Bechtel and more.
As for her relationship with Daniel, 34, Charli opened up about working with him during an appearance on Spout Podcast in December.
“We did a few things together. He’s not really into it, but we have a few ideas in the works,” she said.

Charli added: “It’s funny, I’ve never been in a relationship with anyone I’ve worked with, so it’s like a whole new dynamic. But it’s great. There will be a few songs that he worked on with me.”
The pair first linked up in 2021 while working on the joint single “Spinning” with The 1975 and No Rome. Daniel later produced various tracks on her 2022 album. Clashas well as the song “Hot Girl (Bodies Bodies Bodies)” for the 2022 horror film A24. Bodies Bodies Bodies.
In November, PEOPLE confirmed that Charli had become engaged to Daniel.
The pop star officially announced her engagement by sharing photos with the indie-pop artist and producer on her public Instagram after quietly sharing the news with a post of her engagement ring on her private Instagram account dedicated to her fans.
