Jenna Ortega offers a look inside Tim Burton’s creepy abode.
The Scream The 21-year-old star painted a picture of what the gothic horror director’s California home looks like during an interview with Vanity Fair August 6. Ortega, a horror fan herself, has worked with Burton on multiple projects, including Netflix Wednesday and highly anticipated bug juice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuicepremiering in September.
Describing Burton’s home, Ortega tells the publication, “You walk in and you see a huge throne from Alice in Wonderland. There’s a jar of eyeballs in the bathroom.”
The actress adds that she is Edward Scissorhands The creator always has tiny figurines in his pockets — or “his little creatures” as she likes to call them.

In December 2022, PEOPLE caught another inside look at the director’s creepy design aesthetic while catching up with the season one production designer WednesdayMark Scruton. The two worked closely to bring the iconic dark side of her dorm room to life from Wednesday, contrasting it with the colorful zone of her roommate Enid.
“The team is brilliant and that’s what they do. It was great working with him and trying to get inside his head with his style and his look,” said Scruton.
“When we first started, that was what we focused on. It was just him and I watching the set and trying certain things, which led to a very specific side for Wednesday,” he continued. “Everything is very intentional about his framing—everything is there for a reason.”

In light of Wednesday creeping’s second season (filming began in May), Ortega addressed some of her previous controversial comments about the show’s script for the first season during the same VF interview.
She was first criticized by fans of the show after she said during an appearance on Dax Shepard’s show that the writing for Wednesday’s character made no “nonsense”. Armchair expert podcast in March 2023.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had to stand on a set the way I did Wednesday,” she said then. “Everything [Wednesday] seems, everything I’ve had to play, makes no sense at all for her character. Her existence in a love triangle made no sense.”

Reflecting on the backlash in the present day, she told the magazine that she “probably could have used my words better to describe it all,” but she’s excited to have some creative authority in season two as she takes on the role of producer this time around.
Ortega added that the show’s prosthetics and Wednesday’s cellos are things I live for.
