Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder bond like no other.
Actresses, who act together in Beetlejuice Beetlejuicehad a sweet — and completely unplanned — matching moment at the Venice Film Festival.
At the film’s British premiere in London on Thursday, Aug. 29, Ortega, 21, told PEOPLE that she and Ryder, 52, didn’t discuss their matching tulle ensembles for the film festival the day before. Ortega’s sheer red Dior Haute Couture dress, which is similar to the dress worn by Ryder’s Lydia Deetz in the original 1988 film, happens to match Stranger Things the star’s black Chanel suit.
“We haven’t even talked about it,” Ortega said of the homage. “No, I don’t know if she noticed, but it was funny because, we didn’t talk about everything, but we were both wearing tulle skirts, so it’s kind of funny that we were mentally intertwined and didn’t realize it.”

Duo, along with the rest Beetlejuice Beetlejuice cast, kicked off the 81st edition of the film festival by posing next to each other.
Ortega’s dress consisted of a heart-shaped top and a ruffled bottom that revealed her platform sandals. She added a Bois de Rose necklace, bracelet and rings in white gold, rose gold and diamonds by Dior Joaillerie, as well as a matching red makeup look.

Ryder’s Chanel ensemble, meanwhile, featured a cropped blazer and vest with contrasting buttons, a white button-down shirt and a floor-length skirt.
The Wednesday the actress’ look seemingly referenced Ryder’s character Lydia Deetz’s red wedding dress from the original film.

During the film’s press tour, Ortega and her stylist Enrique Melendez put together several other looks that nod to the original bug juice.
Her multi-striped ensemble while stepping out in New York earlier this month was inspired by Michael Keaton’s iconic costume as the title character.

She also stepped out in an outfit that paid homage to the final look Ryder wore in the 1988 film.
Ortega’s Thom Browne look, which consisted of a navy sweater and plaid skirt, was almost identical to Ryder as Deetz. She also carried a bag for the recently deceased designed by Ozias, which refers to the creepy manual from the original film.
