Prosecutors accused Ms. Faith, 49, of obstructing justice in February 2021. An accusation of using interstate commerce to commit murder for hire, a crime that carries a potential death penalty, was added in September 2021. Prosecutors agreed to remove the obstruction allegation and propose a life sentence in exchange for her plea. U.S. District Judge Jane J. Boyle sentenced Ms. Faith on Tuesday after she entered a guilty plea in February and was also given the order to pay $6,500 in restitution.

Prosecutors played a video of Ms. Faith explaining the crime to Dallas Homicide Detective Chris Walton the morning after her husband’s murder during the sentencing hearing.

“When I looked around, I noticed this dude shooting continuously. I didn’t know him, which I couldn’t believe. Why, like, she cried out. “Several, maybe five or six, I feel like. I told him to stop as he continued, “Stop it!”

“And then I noticed the individual turning and approaching me with simply dark eyes. I cried “NO!” and immediately began to flee. She said, “And he threw me to the ground. “The entire time I was screaming, he was trying to attack me.”

Additionally, the prosecution submitted security footage of Ms Faith sobbing during the assault and video of her crying uncontrollably thereafter as evidence.

According to court documents, Ms. Faith later acknowledged that her husband, American Airlines technology director Jamie Faith, was shot and killed on October 9, 2020, in front of his Oak Cliff home by her lover, Darrin Ruben Lopez, 49. (Mr. Lopez has been accused with murder by the state and a gun crime by the federal government. Both accusations have received his plea of not guilty. He is innocent until and unless a court finds him guilty, like other defendants.)

Ms. Faith acknowledged that she was aware that Mr. Lopez, whom she referred to as her “one and only love,” had been crippled by a traumatic brain injury while fighting in Iraq with the U.S. Army. She gave Mr. Lopez gifts and money both before and after the murder. She also gave him two credit cards, which she used the money from a GoFundMe campaign she started after her husband’s passing to pay off.

She also acknowledged that, before to the murder, she had contacted Mr. Lopez via two fictitious email addresses while posing as both her husband and a friend in an effort to mislead him into believing that her husband was abusing her physically and sexually.

According to her plea documents, Ms. Faith left her house with her husband to walk their dog seven months into her relationship with Mr. Lopez. Mr Lopez, who is said to have driven to the Faiths’ house in Dallas from his home in Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee, where he allegedly waited at a neighbor’s house, is accused of shooting Mr Faith seven times before escaping in a black Nissan Titan pickup truck with a distinctive ‘T’ decal on the back window.

After discovering that authorities were aware of the “T” decal, Ms. Faith came on DFW’s ABC affiliate, WFAA, and pleaded with viewers to assist detectives in locating the truck with the decal. Ms. Faith acknowledged that she texted Mr. Lopez after the interview to encourage him to take the sticker off his truck.

“I awoke a little panicked… She texted him, “Something is eating away at me telling me you need to take the sticker out of the truck’s back window. “I don’t usually respond this strongly… I think you should remove the sticker immediately, preferably today. The following day, Mr. Lopez allegedly took the sticker off.
