Jennifer Garner laughs about her pet’s unusual names.
In an interview with YouTube channel We Rate Dogs published Wednesday, the 51-year-old actress explained that her large collection of pets includes a dog named Birdie, a cat named Moose, another dog named Kitty and a puppy named Bugs.
Asked by the channel’s founder, Matt Nelson, if the name choices were “deliberately confusing,” Garner laughed and replied, “Yes.”
Eight-year-old golden retriever Birdie also joined Family switch star in an interview at Los Angeles’ Wallis Annenberg PetSpace, and as he was led around on a leash to explore the dog-friendly environment, Garner told the story of how he joined her family.

“My oldest [child] was 2 years old and decided she needed her own dog. She kept talking about it. And I said, ‘When you’re 10, that’s the age when someone could get their own dog,'” she recalled, referring to daughter Violet, now 18.
“And I thought she’d forget because she was only 2. But now we have Birdie,” she continued, adding jokingly, “She hasn’t.”
Garner shares Violet, along with Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex-husband Ben Affleck.

The last thing he said to me star also shared Birdie’s exciting new achievement. The dog was recently “promoted” to serve as a therapy dog at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
“So she’s excited. He wants to be at Children’s LA for the first time before he turns 9,” Garner said. “She’s a very good dog, a very good girl.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Garner got emotional remembering her late dog Martha Stewart, who she said still “has my heart” and was “the best good girl that ever lived.”
She recalled how the producers gave her a white labrador 13 Continues 30 after the rom-com wrapped in 2004 and joked that she used the puppy to “bribe” herself for Martha Stewart’s reality cooking show.
“I was a fan of Martha’s and she didn’t invite me. I wanted to cook with her and she didn’t care. Anyway, it worked,” she explained.
When Nelson suggested it was now “only fair” for Stewart, 82, to get a dog, to name it Jennifer Garner, Alias the actress jokingly replied: “I didn’t want to be the one to say that. But now it’s on the record. Called out!”
