Jennifer Gates introduces her daughter Leila to the world of horseback riding.
On Saturday, the 27-year-old daughter of billionaires Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates shared an adorable photo of herself showing her one-year-old daughter the riding arena at an equestrian event.
In a candid photo posted to her Instagram Story, Gates could be seen holding Leila in her arms so she could peek at the horses in the pen and their riders. Leila, who was wearing a pink flower in her hair and a green dress to match her mother’s dress, smiled for the camera when Jennifer appeared to say something to her.
“Leila checking out the petite jumper division today,” Jennifer captioned the photo.

In another post, Jennifer showed a video of her own equestrian run at the event. In the video, she and her horse can be seen hitting one of the rails at the obstacle course, prompting her to remark that it’s “not our day, but that’s okay”.
The love for horses runs in the family as Jennifer’s husband Nayel Nassar is also involved in equestrian sports. Nassar, 33, is an Olympic equestrian who previously competed at the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo. The couple’s love for horses and sports is what brought them together.

“Horses are just one part of our lives, but we love the sport,” she told CNN EQ equestrian show 2019.”[Nassar]I am a professional, and I do this as an amateur. So it’s amazing that we can share our love and passion for horses with each other.”
The couple married in October 2021 after almost four years of dating, and welcomed their first child, Leila, in February 2023. The couple confirmed the happy news on Instagram with a photo of themselves holding their little girl and wrote. “Sending love from our healthy little family 💓🙏🥰.”

Gates and Nassar celebrated their daughter’s first birthday in February with a sentimental joint Instagram post reflecting on Leila’s growth over the past year, alongside photos of her hanging out at home with their dogs and playing with some toys.
“I can’t believe that this little girl made us parents a year ago today. Leila, you brought indescribable joy to this world with your endless laughter, curiosity and love for all things animal🐴🐶!” Jennifer wrote in the description.
“Happy birthday sweet girl, we love you unconditionally forever and we can’t wait to see what the next year brings! 💗🥹✨♾️,” she added.
