Jennifer Lopez 'Enjoyed Spending Time' with Friend Matt Damon at TIFF amid Ben Affleck Divorce (Exclusive Source)

Jennifer Lopez and Matt Damon remained good friends amid her divorce from Ben Affleck.

After posing together for group pictures in Unstoppable premiered Friday, Sept. 6, at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), a source told PEOPLE that the singer is “very close with Matt [Damon]” and “enjoyed spending time” with him.

The two friends were spotted in Unstoppable afterparty engaged in a “deep conversation” following the film’s premiere, a source previously told PEOPLE.

Lopez and Damon, 53, spoke for more than 20 minutes at the after party, held at the EPOCH Bar & Kitchen Terrace at The Ritz-Carlton.

An insider told PEOPLE that Lopez was sitting at a table outside with the actor’s wife Luciana Damon and co-star Don Cheadle when Damon joined them.

“Jen and Matt started talking and had a long, deep conversation,” a source previously said, noting that the two friends were laughing and talking more seriously, holding hands for several minutes as they talked.

Onstage during a post-screening Q&A, Lopez emphasized the importance of telling a story.

“I think my job was really to help her feel safe,” she said, “Both Anthony and Judy, to feel safe and put this in our hands and trust us with all the information that they could give us and know that we wouldn’t abuse it in any way, just to tell their story in the best and most beautiful way it deserves because it’s one of the most beautiful, inspiring stories I’ve ever seen on screen.”
