Jennifer Lopez on 'Rocking' a 'Body Condom' in Her New Movie: 'It's a Different Type of Fashion' 

Jennifer Lopez gets candid about her Satin dressing room.

The musician and actress, 54, shared her thoughts on the new film’s costumes — which mostly consisted of skin-tight black bodysuits — something her co-star Sterling K. Brown couldn’t help but tease to PEOPLE at the film’s premiere on Monday, May 20. May at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles.

“Are you saying we weren’t fashion forward in the movie?” Brown jokes. “You didn’t feel the condom on my body that I was rocking?”

Lopez chimed in and said she felt the costume she wore was “appropriate” for the story they were trying to tell in the sci-fi film.

“It’s kind of futuristic, but also very real and grounded,” she explains. “I loved it. I really loved it. It’s a different kind of fashion.”

“It’s not glam and the way people are used to seeing me,” she continues. “But I mean it Satin the character was a very messed up person who wasn’t completely in control of her life and her emotions and everything else that was going on.”

Brown added that Lopez’s character is in the “process of putting her stuff together,” which she is Marry me the actress agreed. “And so, I think it was perfect for the character,” she says.

IN SatinLopez stars as Atlas Shepherd, “a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence,” according to the synopsis.

She “joins a mission to capture a rogue robot with whom she shares a mysterious past. But when plans go awry, her only hope to save humanity’s future from artificial intelligence is to trust him.”

Lopez stars alongside Brown, Sima Liu, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popula, Lana Parrilla and Mark Strong in the film directed by Brad Peyton, who previously directed the Dwayne Johnson films San Andreas and Rampageamong other films.

The This is me… now: a love story the star walked the red carpet of the film’s premiere, alongside Liu and Brown, without her husband Ben Affleck (51).

Lopez’s look for the event was the complete opposite of her character in the film. The actress wore a white sleeveless top with a long black skirt that flowed around her, creating a glamorous combination on the red carpet. She also styled her hair in a sleek bun and wore a silver necklace with matching earrings, completing the look with a small black clutch.

Earlier this month, Lopez revealed why the sci-fi thriller’s story resonated so deeply with her in a clip she shared exclusively with PEOPLE.

“I read the script for the first time Satin, I felt a great passion for the story, and especially for the story of friendship at its core,” she said. “On the outside it’s kind of a big action movie, but at its emotional core it’s a story of love and friendship.”

Satin begins streaming on Netflix on May 24.
