Jennifer Love Hewitt has solidified her summer plans.
The actress, 45, is officially set to reprise her role in the upcoming reboot of the film I know what you did last summershe confirmed on Instagram on December 13.
“It’s never too late to come back,” she wrote, sharing a photo of herself looking into a mirror with the chilling caption written on sticky notes. “Julie James is coming back. I know what you’ll be doing next summer!”
Hewitt starred in the 1997 slasher film alongside Freddie Prinze Jr., now 48, who also returns for the new iteration. His real-life wife Sarah Michelle Gellar was also in the cast, plus Ryan Phillippe, Anne Heche and Johnny Galecki.

Hewitt and Prinze returned for the 1998 sequel, which added Mekhi Phifer and Brandy Norwood, who expressed interest in returning for the new film as well.
It was also the third film in 2006 with a new cast, I’ll always know what you did last summerplus a reimagined Prime Video series debuting in 2021, all inspired by Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel.
During the episode Show Jennifer Hudson that aired earlier this week, Hewitt teased her possible return to the horror franchise, but said she “can’t say much, I’m not officially in it yet, but I’m close.”

Still, Hewitt said, “It’s going to be really good” and added, “They’ve got an amazing young cast that’s in it. I’m hoping to come back as the ghost of the ’90s, and we’ll see what happens.”
The stellar young reboot cast includes: Madelyn Cline, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Jonah Hauer-King, Lola Tung, Chase Sui Wonders and Sarah Pidgeon.
