The touching picture tells the story of a young family as they work together through the husband’s deployment and his mental health upon returning home. In the lyrics, Tolman recounts the experience of standing by a loved one while facing challenges. “There’s no part of me that’s not here for you / While your heart might as well be in Timbuktu,” she sings.

In the chorus, the singer-songwriter lulls: “Timbuktu, where are you / except for the pain you’re going through / There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to not lose you / Timbuktu.”

Tolman exclusively shared a statement with PEOPLE about writing the song with country artist Holly McCubbin and her husband Dave Brainard, 48, a veteran himself. “When we (Dave Brainard, Holly McCubbin and I) were writing this song, it started with us thinking that a couple was falling out of love. But as we got deeper into it, the song revealed to us that it’s not about falling out of love at all, but actually about a much deeper love — loving someone in their difficult moments.”

She continued, “My husband and co-writer of this song, Dave Brainard, is a veteran and comes from a military family, where some have been deployed and seen things none of us could have imagined. So he brought a very unique perspective to the writing room, and it felt like the song was taking us in the direction of a military wife loving her husband through PTSD.”

“However, it was important to me that everyone could listen to this and tell it, regardless of the circumstances they or their loved ones are going through,” the “High Class White Trash” singer added. “But with the video, I really wanted to honor the PTSD side of the story that came out while we were writing the song.”

In addition to releasing the song, Tolman is also working with Operation Stand Down Tennessee to raise awareness and funds for their Operation Connect program, which offers outreach and suicide prevention support for veterans across Tennessee.

The “Married in a Honky Tonk” artist also opened up about their partnership in a statement to PEOPLE. “For Veterans Day, it’s very important to me to show gratitude and honor the men and women who put us before themselves and were willing to do whatever it took to keep us safe. I show my emotions best through music, so I hope that whoever hears this song can hear that someone loves and appreciates them – she said.

“Operation Stand Down Tennessee is an organization that shows that to veterans every day,” the cameraman continued. “I went to visit their facilities and was completely blown away by the love and respect they have for veterans from all walks of life, so I knew I wanted to raise as much awareness and help their efforts as I could. ”

On Saturday, he’ll take his efforts to the stage with a performance at the fourth annual Music City Cares Veterans Day benefit event at the Texas Troubadour Theater in Nashville, with all proceeds going to Operation Stand Down Tennessee.
