Jeremy Clarkson issues health update after emergency heart surgery and reveals tasks docs have ‘banned’ him from doing

JEREMY Clarkson joked he was banned from emptying the dishwasher after his life-saving heart operation.

The star of Clarkson’s Farm told how he had been in great fear for his health for days since the death.

Jeremy, 64, revealed he needed surgery to clear blocked arteries after feeling unwell on a recent holiday.

He told The Sun last night: “I’m very grateful to everyone who has sent messages of support, but I’m fine.

“I’m just not allowed to do any manual labor or empty the dishwasher for the next four years.

“At least I think that’s what the doctor said.”

Clarkson first felt unwell while vacationing on an island in the Indian Ocean.

He wrote in The Sunday Times: “I was at the breakfast table and when I got up to leave I had to take a moment to check that my limbs were working properly.”

He later had problems trying to dive, swim and walk, which continued after the break.

One day he felt “wet and tight in his chest.”

And later, after working on his farm in the Cotswolds – which features in his hit Amazon Prime series – a doctor was called when he noticed “pins and needles” in his left arm.

Jeremy was then taken by ambulance to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

He said: “It seems that one of the arteries feeding my heart with nutritious blood was completely blocked, and another of the three was going in that direction.

“The question was the following.

“Were the arteries so damaged that I would need an emergency heart bypass?”

“Or could he use Dyno-Rods and ultrasonic rams to loosen them before inserting the stent?

“Fortunately, this turned out to be possible.”

Jeremy, who also hosts ITV’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, continued: “I went into the operating theatre.

“Because my bankruptcy was definitely at the door. Days away? ‘Perhaps,’ said (the doctor).

A stent was then inserted into the blocked artery to keep it open and restore blood flow to the heart.

Jeremy said: “It wasn’t particularly painful. Just weird.”

He came home the next day and said he thought, “Crikey, that was close.”

He previously said he was worried about his health and admitted: “I don’t have much longer.”

Jeremy also shared his fears of developing dementia, admitting his “memory is shot”.

He was fitted with hearing aids last year.

But the star has shown no signs of slowing down, with a new book about life at Diddly Squat Farm.

A fourth series of Clarkson’s Farm is also in production.

Earlier this year Jeremy opened a refurbished pub — The Farmer’s Dog — near Burford, Oxon.
