David Schwimmer Warns 'Stay Out of the Basement' in Creepy New Trailer for Goosebumps: The Vanishing

David Schwimmer sets a spooky tone in the newly released trailer for Goosebumps: The Vanishing.

As you peek into the latest chapter of the horror-comedy anthology series, Schwimmer, 57, plays divorced father Anthony — who hosts his twin children, Cece and Devin, at his home in Gravesend, Brooklyn for the summer — ominously tells the kids his one house rule.

“I want you to have a really fun and safe summer here,” Schwimmer’s character says. “I only have one rule: stay out of the basement.”

“What do you have in the basement?” asks his worried son Devin (played by him Dead to meSam McCarthy).

In the following clip, Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin are talking to some neighborhood kids when they learn that their uncle was one of four teenagers who mysteriously disappeared in Gravesend three decades ago, prompting them to search for answers.

“A threat rises and they quickly realize that dark secrets lie between them, setting off a chain of events that unravel a deep mystery,” reads the official synopsis for the series, based on the popular books by RL Stine.

“As they venture into the unknown, Cece, Devin and their friends — Alex, CJ and Frankie — find themselves embroiled in the chilling story of four teenagers who mysteriously disappeared in 1994,” the synopsis continues.

In the trailer, Anthony receives a package from the police that returns the clothes his brother was wearing when he went missing, prompting him to do some investigating on his own. The scene shows Anthony analyzing the material found on the clothing under a microscope and discovers something startling – which soon becomes downright terrifying.

Meanwhile, as the twins and their friends delve deeper into the mystery of the teenager’s disappearance in 1994, a series of chilling events leave them unnerved. “Things are happening that aren’t normal,” Devin says as their bathroom sink overflows with a dark red gelatinous substance.

At one point, the twins even begin to suspect that their father could be behind the strange events.

“Dad’s behind all the crazy stuff that’s going on,” Cece says, prompting her brother to reply, “We don’t know for sure that he is.”
