Jeremy Renner Says Snowplow Accident Taught Him ‘Not to Squander My Life’: ‘It’s My Duty’

Jeremy Renner doesn’t take life for granted.

The actor wrote an emotional message on Instagram on Monday following a near-fatal accident with a snowplow on January 1. He revealed all the treatments he underwent to recover.

“I’ve been exploring ALL kinds of therapy since January 14th … every day,” Renner wrote in his Instagram caption. “Countless hours of physical therapy, peptide injections, IV drips and pushes, stem cells and exosomes, red light / IR therapy, hyperbaric chamber 2.0 atmosphere, cold plunge, and the list goes on and on…”

The Avengers: Endgame Starr, 52, said his biggest therapy was “his mind” and his “will to keep pushing his recovery.” He added that he felt it was his “duty” to be “exceptional” after the accident.

“Not to waste my life because I was spared, but to give back to my family, friends and all of you who empowered me to endure,” he added.

In January, Renner’s reps confirmed to PEOPLE that he was in “critical but stable condition” following the snowmobile accident.

His rep revealed that Renner suffered his injuries “after being involved in a weather-related accident while clearing snow earlier today,” adding that “his family is with him and he is receiving excellent care.”

Since the accident, Renner has been very open about his road to recovery. Last month, he revealed to CNN that he no longer has “fat” in his life and that he is very clear about how he wants to spend his time.

“I am very, very clear. My life is really lean, if that makes sense,” he said. “There’s no more fat in my life. I do not have time for that. So there’s something really nice about having that superpower.”

Back in October, the star revealed he has a collection of music coming out about different milestones in his recovery journey.

Meanwhile, the actor took time out for a Halloween party by dressing up as a giant sloth late last month. “DDD-DJ Sloth!” the actor said in an Instagram video, featuring his 10-year-old daughter Ava Berlin. He shares Ava with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco.
