Derek, like his two older brothers, has always played football. He attended the University of Richmond and competed for the Richmond Spiders in the NCAA FCS National Championship game. He then chose a new career and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Richmond. During the same period, he graduated in business administration and management from the University of Richmond-Robins School of Business.
