Jerome Ford will be the No. 1 running back after Nick Chubb’s injury
Following the season-ending injury to All-Pro running back Nick Chubb, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Tuesday that Jerome Ford has taken over as the team’s leading rusher. Chubb was carted off the field during the second quarter of Monday night’s game against the Steelers after suffering a left knee injury. Although Coach Stefanski declined to provide details on Chubb’s injuries, he clarified that Chubb will require surgery.
Coach Stefanski also said the Browns are actively looking at adding another guy to the roster to bolster their running back depth. Nonetheless, he said Ford will take over the top running back job previously held by Chubb. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, free agent Kareem Hunt, who spent the previous four seasons with the Browns, visited the organization on Tuesday as part of their efforts to resolve the issue.
Jerome Ford showed his skills Monday, rushing for 106 yards on 16 carries, including a spectacular 69-yard effort that resulted in a score for the Browns. Right after Chubb’s injury, Ord showed his flexibility by assisting in the passing game, catching three receptions for 25 yards and recording a touchdown catch.
