Jersey Shore’s Sammi and Snooki Would Handle Note Drama Differently: ‘You Can’t Get Back Those Years’ (Exclusive)

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola look back on one of the most legendary Jersey Shore moments from another perspective.

It’s been exactly 13 years since Snooki and Jenni “JWoww” Farley wrote an anonymous message to Samma telling her that her boyfriend, a colleague Jersey Shore costar Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, he cheated on her.

The message caused serious social drama when an episode of the MTV reality series aired back in 2009, including a physical altercation between Sammi and JWoww. But more than a decade later, women have a much different take on the situation.

Get a sneak peek at Thursday’s episode in a PEOPLE exclusive Jersey Shore: Family VacationSammi, Snooki and Angelina Pivarnick talk candidly about the letter.

Sammi, 36, begins by mentioning how nice it is to be reunited with her former castmates — who she lost touch with over the years — and how much she misses their friendships.

“Honestly, now that I’m here I feel like a part of me has been missing for a while, you know? I feel like I looked at you like sisters,” she says, later adding in the confessional, “I’m so surprised at how naturally I felt like coming back. I feel like these people are my family and I just went on vacation for a few years.”

The conversation quickly changes when Angelina, 37, brings up the now infamous note. “I feel like, especially in Miami, me and you haven’t broken bad relations other than, like, a text,” she tells Sammi.

The scene then cuts to a flashback of JWoww dictating the iconic note to Snooki as she typed away on a keyboard. Although Sammi didn’t react well to the letter at the time, she’s had a lot of time to think and reflect on it over the years and now says she can “laugh about it”.

“I was more upset that it was like, wait, is everyone kidding me?” she tells her friends.

Snooki, 35, admits she’s sorry she and JWoww handled the delicate situation with their friend. “If I had to go back, I’d tell you to your face,” says Sammi, who later admits her role in the botched procedure during a confessional.

“I was 22 at the time and I was so dramatic. If the message had happened now, I think I would have handled it a little differently,” she says.

Sammi then tells her friends how much she has grown as a person and what she has learned since then that she wishes she had known then.

“I’ve become the strongest person I can be at this point in my life because of all that. But I can’t get those years back,” she says. “Time is so short on this earth. Don’t fucking waste it on a man if he doesn’t work.”

In the confessional, Sammi goes on to talk about why the message and revelations of the cheating on Ronnie made her so emotional all those years ago.

“In my 20s, I thought I had to get married, find my future husband, and feel like I would never find the next love of my life. I was so scared,” she recalls. “And now, you kind of accept things as they are, I think it’s better now that you are [in your] 30s.”

Last month, Sammi spoke to PEOPLE about what it was like to go back to her old ways Jersey Shore treads – and seeing ex Ronnie, 37, again after their complicated past.

“I probably wouldn’t have come back if I knew he was still on the show, honestly,” she admitted, adding that she hadn’t spoken to her ex in over a decade.

She said that now that she’s in a “loving” and “supportive” relationship with someone else — boyfriend Justin Mayo — she just sees Ortiz-Margo as “just some guy I dated in my 20s.”
