Jesse Watters Faced Backlash After He Made A Remark About Immigrants

Jesse Watters, an American television host, was criticized online for making offensive statements about immigrants. On Fox News’ The Five roundtable on May 2, the 44-year-old was joined by Dana Perino, Greg Gutfeld, Jessica Tarlov and Jeanna Pirro to discuss reports that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is busing migrants to New York and other “cities run by blacks”.

On May 1, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Abbott had recently abandoned plans to continue sending busloads of illegal immigrants-turned-asylum-seekers to New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver and Washington, DC, only to continued the “morally bankrupt” program.

Jesse Watters noted on his Fox show:

“The mayor here is complaining about a few thousand people, despite having more resources than any other city in the country?” That’s absurd. Now, on my way to work, I witnessed a family of illegal immigrants rummaging through the garbage for recycling materials.”

Tarlov interrupted him and asked:

“How did you find out they were illegal?”

Jesse replied:

“I can tell. I’m sure of it. I’m from the city and you don’t want me interfering, but I can tell you.”

Jesse Watters’ words sparked outrage online, with many criticizing him for his callous statements.

Twitter reactions to Jesse Watters’ anti-immigrant remarks

Twitterati were enraged when Jesse Watters’ claim that he could recognize an illegal immigrant because he was a “city guy” went viral. The host has been labeled a racist by several people and criticized for his supposed intuition for determining who is an immigrant and who is not. Others compared him to former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson and called for Watters to be fired in the same manner.

Jesse Watters went on to state his position on illegal immigration.

Jesse Watters continued to talk about illegal immigrants after making controversial statements about The Five, calling it the “saddest thing” to watch because they can’t work in the country.

“They came to work, but they can’t work here.” And this is the point. You must be allowed to choose who comes into the nation depending on their requirements. If you need such an individual, bring him. But if you just say yes, come in, and whoops, you know, and now everyone’s asking for a five cent bottle. That is not correct. You can’t blame a man from Texas for that.”

Watters delegated authority to Vice President Joe Biden, whose administration has seen an increase in border crossings.

“The common denominator in all of this is Joe Biden.” It’s the equivalent of a lousy boss who doesn’t do his job. Then everyone on the team starts pointing fingers and gossiping about the other person. But if management would just do their job, everyone could stay in their own lane. Texas could focus on Texas, while New York could focus on New York.”

Watters’ statement comes just days after Fox News reportedly fired Tucker Carlson after a racist text message was uncovered during an investigation into Dominion. According to the New York Times, Carlson apparently mentioned something in the text that was the final straw for Fox, praising the crowd for beating up a suspected Antifa member.

“Obviously, it’s shameful to jump on such a person. This is not the way white boys fight.”
