Jessica Biel stands by her viral Met Gala beauty.
After the 42-year-old star revealed she soaked in 20 pounds of Epsom salts the night before the star-studded event, she defended the technique on the Thursday, May 16, episode of View.
“It’s just a little hack, like a little hack on the red carpet. I’m getting off the plane, I’m relaxing,” the actress said when Sunny Hostin asked about the headline-grabbing move.
“Do you like leather or something?” Hostin asked. “It’s amazing,” Biel replied. “And it puts magnesium in your body. I slept really well, I woke up, I felt really good, I felt calm. It’s an adrenaline rush, kind of night. There’s a lot of exciting people.
Jessica Biel Says Her Viral Met Gala Epsom Salt Bath Trick Is Her Way To ‘Feel Confident’ (Exclusive)
Just before Biel hit the Met steps on Monday, May 6, she offered fans a peek into her getting ready process, which included soaking 20 pounds of epsom salts in hot water the night before. “Really,” she said in a TikTok video as she showed herself pouring bath salt.
She hit the red carpet at the event (without her husband, Justin Timberlake) in a pink silk Tamara Ralph Couture gown and cape, which were embellished with striped coque feathers and crystals. It took 320 hours to make the ensemble.
“Epsom salt baths are a tool that I love and use for all things, after travel, sore muscles, of course, magnesium, absolutely, for good sleep, for stress relief, to, you know, just feel the confidence in your body to go big event like the Met Ball, which is what I used it for,” the actress later told PEOPLE exclusively.
As for choosing the look, Biel said that while pink isn’t her favorite color, she gravitated toward the dress.
“It’s not really necessarily a color that I’m drawn to very often, but this particular pink and this particular dress were right for me,” she tells PEOPLE.
