Jessica Chastain walked the red carpet at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on Friday in Venice, Italy.
The Oscar-winning actress, 46, attended the event to promote her new film Memory. Chastain posed for photos wearing a custom Gucci glittery sleeveless dress. The bronze dress had a plunging neckline and collar visible next to her signature red hair.
She wore jewelry from Bulgaria to mark the special occasion.

According to the film’s official synopsis, the film follows Sylvia (Chastain), a social worker who lives a fairly simple and structured life with her daughter.
Peter Sarsgaard stars opposite Chastain as Saul, the man who follows her home from their high school reunion and throws her ordinary life into a tailspin. “Their sudden encounter will have a profound effect on both of them as they open doors to the past,” the synopsis adds.

Although the drama came out amid a strike by SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild, Chastain made it clear that she stands in solidarity with those in her industry.
The Scenes from a marriage the actress attended the Venice International Film Festival event as part of the guild’s temporary agreement stating that Memory is an independent production. While at the festival, she wore a black t-shirt with the words “SAG-AFTRA ON STRIKE”.
In a press conference video she shared on her Instagram account on Friday, she responded to a reporter who asked if she was “hesitant” to attend the annual film event.
“I was incredibly nervous to be here today and come here, and there are actually some people on my team who advised me against it,” Chastain said.
“Me [actors] They often tell us and remind them how grateful we should be,” she told reporters. “And it’s an environment that I think has allowed workplace abuse to go unchecked for decades and it’s also an environment that has saddled our union members with unfair contracts. ”

The Oscar winner said the outpouring of support for independent film is a positive step toward ending the SAG-AFTRA strike, which began on July 13.
“That’s what our national committee, the bargaining committee and our elected leadership have asked us to do,” Chastain said. “And when independent producers like these these films sign these temporary contracts, they let the world know, they let AMPTP [Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers] I know that actors deserve fair compensation, that AI protections should be implemented, and that there should be streaming revenue sharing.”

She also opened up the opportunity to work with Sarsgaard for a production directed by Michel Franco.
“I always wanted to work with Peter. We met a few times before this and we talked about it. I have not hidden the fact that I adore his films and who he is as an actor,” she added.

In August, Entertainment Weekly released a pre-recorded interview with Chastain for their Award winner podcast where the actress discussed her desire to work with her former co-star again.
“You know who I keep thinking about and I just wish I could play her [again]? Celia Foote,” she said, referring to her role opposite Octavia Spencer in the award-winning 2011 film. Help.
“I just want to do something, Celia and Minny, and see what happens,” Chastain said.

She went on to discuss what could come of the project, adding, “You know they ended up living together and raising a kid together, they were best friends. How amazing would that movie be? I loved her and I had to be a little silly.”
Memory premiered on Friday in Venice. It will also be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday.
