Jessica Simpson Says She Put Up with 'Everything I Did Not Deserve' in Cryptic Post About 'Personal' Music Comeback

Making music for Jessica Simpson is an “overwhelming” activity.

Some 16 years after releasing her last album, Simpson is gearing up for her long-awaited return to music and seemingly teased a “comeback” by sharing photos of herself in the recording studio on Instagram on Nov. 11.

“Interviews in my music room in Nashville where I discovered my unique magic,” the 44-year-old singer and entrepreneur captioned the post.

“This comeback is personal,” Simpson added, “It’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I didn’t deserve.”

In September, Simpson spoke to PEOPLE about her eponymous label’s Fall/Holiday 2024 clothing and shoe collection, and how she draws inspiration from dressing for the studio while making new music in Tennessee.

“If I put some of what I’m feeling on artistically, I’ll be able to express myself better in the words and music I write,” she said at the time. “…Lots of fringe, lots of turquoise, high heels and lots of slip dresses, short and long! I kind of created my own style based on the songs I sing.”

Simpson previously talked about spending more time in Nashville and making new music in the city for the November 2023 cover interview. News about footwearstating to the newspaper that he plans to release a new album and tour this year.

“It’s like a sanctuary for me. I can just crawl into my head and hug my heart,” Simpson said of living and making music in Tennessee at the time. “I feel so enlightened there.”

“Writing music has become a wonderful therapeutic thing for me that I didn’t know was so natural, but that’s because I haven’t done it for so long,” she told the new paper, noting that she wrote more than 400 songs in 2023.

“It’s just nice to know that I’m meeting again in this place, as a woman, and after going through everything I’ve been through in my life,” continued the former Newlyweds star. “There is a sense of freedom and empowerment.”

A documentary about Jessica Simpson is being prepared: ‘Real, raw and more personal than anything I’ve done before’

In addition to new music, Simpson — who shares son Ace Knute, 12, and daughters Birdie Mae, 5, and Maxwell Drew, 11, with husband Eric Johnson — is also in the process of filming a docu-series about her life with Gunpowder & Nebo.

“Publishing his memoirs, An open bookI was touched when I found out how many people saw themselves in my story. “I’m ready to share a lot that’s happened in my life since that book was published, including an artistic journey and a return to music inspired by pain and betrayal, as well as beauty and forgiveness,” she said in a press release at the time.

I look forward to reconnecting and sharing my heart with all those who may need it in hopes that we can inspire each other and move forward on our parallel journeys, Simpson said.
