Justin Bieber Says Diddy Rejected One of His Songs When He Was 14: ‘Wild Circle Moment’

Justin Bieber takes a trip down memory lane to celebrate the release of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ new project, Love album: Off The Grid.

The “Confident” artist recalled a time before fame when he tried to pitch his talents to Diddy but was shut down.

“I remember going to my brother Diddy’s office to pitch him a song I wrote for him when I was 14, unfortunately the song was trash haha,” Bieber said on his Instagram Story Thursday night.

Unfortunately, “it would be hard not from him,” as Bieber said. However, the Canadian superstar is proof that sleep delayed is not always sleep denied.

“Rewind to a few years ago when Puff asked if I would do some freestyle for his upcoming love album. Wild full circle moment, I love you @diddy,” the 29-year-old concluded.

Diddy’s new album was released on Friday and features a long list of top talent, including Bieber. The two collaborated on “Moments” — the Biebs included a screenshot of the ballad playing on his phone for an Instagram Story post.

The last LP of the hitmaker “Hello Good Morning” was released in 2006 Press Play.

For Love albumin addition to Bieber, Diddy enlisted Fabolous, Jazmine Sullivan, 21 Savage, HER, The Weeknd, Kehlani, Mary J. Blige and more for the 23-track opus.

Ahead of the album’s release, the Bad Boy founder accepted the Global Icon Award at the 2023 VMAs on Tuesday.

“This is what’s happening. Love wins. Love wins. This is so surreal, I appreciate you coming and giving me your flowers and celebrating me,” he said during his speech while proudly holding his Moon Person trophy. “Of course I have to thank God because that’s my secret weapon. This is a dream come true for me. I grew up watching MTV like, ‘Man, I wish I could be up there one day,’ and I started as a paper boy. I didn’t know that I’ll be here.”

Like Bieber, Diddy’s game plan also changed early on. The New York native talked about how a leg injury crushed his dreams of becoming an NFL athlete.

“I fell into depression. I would be in clubs and dance in New York and do my Diddy bop. And then people would see me and give me actors for videos,” he said. “You have to keep dreaming. Sometimes these hard things hit us.”

“God made another choice and I’m grateful to God for this choice he made,” Diddy, 53, added. “To touch you with my music.”

In addition to sharing his appreciation for the “wild full circle” between him and Diddy, Bieber also teased more new music on his Instagram Story — this time with SZA.

On Friday, he released an acoustic remix of her single “Snooze.”
