Jessica Simpson's New Cowgirl-Glam Collection Helps Her Get 'Into Character' for Long-Awaited Return to Music (Exclusive)

Jessica Simpson is entering a new era.

As the 44-year-old singer and businesswoman prepares to return to the music scene, her eponymous brand’s Fall/Holiday 2024 clothing and footwear collection reflects her newfound “Rockabilly sensibility.”

“There is a rock and roll western vibe that runs through the pieces in this collection,” Simpson tells PEOPLE. “It’s a celebration of how different forms of artistic expression are woven together.”

The campaign photos, inspired by her time in Nashville making new music, show the star sitting on stage in a floral maxi dress, standing in front of a tour bus in towering red platform sandals and using an amp to show off her knee-high bronze boots.

For the mom of three, fashion has long been “one of my favorite parts of self-expression.”

“Creativity for me is absolutely connected to fashion,” Simpson says of creating the new collection. “I find that what I wear helps me evoke a certain sense of self. It’s really always the most beautiful inner confidence in my opinion, but sometimes clothes and shoes can help manage part of the creative process.”

As she dresses for the studio in Nashville, the entrepreneur, who hails from Texas, says she likes to “get into character.”

“If I put some of what I’m feeling on artistically, I’ll be able to express myself better in the words and music I write,” she says. “…Lots of fringe, lots of turquoise, high heels and lots of slip dresses, short and long! I kind of created my own style based on the songs I sing.”

Nod to the brand’s footwear roots, Simpson focused on boots and special occasion shoes for the Fall/Holiday showcase.

“I love boots and this season we have a lot of elevated styles and metallic colors that I’m obsessed with,” she says. “Special occasion shoes are sparkly and chic, perfect for all our holiday parties and celebrations.”

Simpson highlights the Verity Stiletto Boot in Red Muse — a thigh-high design crafted from faux leather and available in a variety of bold colors. “Both a pop of color and a great pair of boots can instantly change your mood and look,” she says. “Red always makes a statement.”

The star also notes that from denim offerings to embellished jackets, “jackets bring so much vibe.”

Like many, Simpson feels nostalgic for the back-to-school season when fall arrives.

“Growing up, we didn’t have much of anything, but we had a lot of love in our family,” she recalls. “Even though we didn’t have the resources to do a lot of back-to-school shopping, my mom always found a way to help me feel cute and accessorize outfits so they were stylish and unique.”

The star adds: “She still helps me style my clothes sometimes and I’m always reminded of when I was back at school as a kid when it started.”
