JFK Assassination 60 Years Later: Surviving Witnesses Speak Out in New Docuseries Trailer (Exclusive)

Sixty years after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, some of the last surviving witnesses are speaking for the first time about what they experienced on November 22, 1963.

JFK: A Day in America — the second installment of National Geographic’s Emmy Award-winning series One day in America historical documentary franchise — premiering Nov. 5, marking the 60th anniversary of Kennedy’s traumatized death.

The three-part limited series will encompass “a comprehensive account of that tragic moment in American history and the ripples that followed,” according to a press release.

“The ground-breaking documentaries interweave archival footage, some of it in color for the first time, with key testimonies from the last surviving witnesses to create an immersive, minute-by-minute examination of that pivotal day that changed history forever,” according to the release.

Such archival footage was provided by official contributor Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas – where Kennedy was hit by two bullets as he rode in a motorcade through a downtown parade.

“When I think back, I’ll never forget those shots — ‘Pow. Pow. Pow’”, one witness opens the trailer for the series.

“I saw the father take his little boy and put his body on top of the boy,” said another witness. Similarly, one witness told how “my maternal instinct worked” at the time of the assassination.

Clint Hill, a US Secret Service agent assigned to First Lady Jackie Kennedy, lamented: “I jumped on the back bumper. Mrs. Kennedy screamed, ‘I love Jack.’ I wasn’t fast enough.’”

“Ms. Kennedy came forward and I see blood on her dress, where she held the president’s head in her lap and said, ‘Let them see what they’ve done,'” another agent recalled.

“The paranoia in the atmosphere that gripped Dallas — ‘Who was this guy?'” one witness said of convicted shooter Lee Harvey Oswald, whose murder video will also be featured, along with police radio recordings and live news broadcasts during the time. .

The trailer ends with the disturbing words of witness testimony: “On November 22, 1963, the United States lost its innocence.”

JFK: A Day in America premieres November 5 at 8/7c on National Geographic and will be available to stream November 6 on Disney+ and Hulu.
