Janhvi Kapoor was born on 7 March 1997 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (25 years; age as of 2022). Although Sridevi was a well-known actress in her own right, she never wanted Jhanvi to enter the world of glamor. Sridevi wanted her to complete her education, get married and settle down. However, Janvi’s fascination with acting convinced her mother to support Janvi’s decision to enter Bollywood. In 2018, she hit the silver screen with the movie “Dhadak” opposite Ishaan Khatter and became the center of attention. “Dhadak” is the Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed Marathi film “Sairat”.

Janvi studied at Ecole Mondiale World School in Mumbai. However, many media reports claimed that she studied at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, which Janhvi denied in an interview. According to her, she chose not to correct the misinformation because she felt the school was known for having students with high IQs. After completing her studies, she went to the United States to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in Los Angeles.

Her father Boney Kapoor is a producer. Her mother Sridevi is an actress. She died on February 24, 2018; Sridevi accidentally drowned in the bathtub of her hotel room at Emirates Towers in Jumeirah, United Arab Emirates. There were reports that Janhvi was born out of wedlock; however, her father Boney Kapoor later denied this in an interview. Speaking about this in an interview, Boney Kapoor said:
My second marriage, my marriage to Sri (happened in Shirdi). We got married on June 2nd. We exchanged vows, stayed there for one night, and didn’t find out she was pregnant until January and we had no choice but to get married publicly. The incident happened on June 2 in Shirdi.
