Rocker Jim Morrison’s ex-girlfriend is opening up about her time with the late Doors frontman – including an alleged sexual assault incident.
Judy Huddleston is one of many members of Morrison’s inner circle interviewed in the new documentary series Before the End: In Search of Jim Morrison (out now). In the series, Huddleston claims the “Light My Fire” singer raped her during their courtship.
“I didn’t want to do it [it]and I completely said no,” she recalled Before the end. “And then he pinned my arms back and down and that’s why I think – I’m not making excuses, but I think he just went crazy.”
Huddleston said she remembers how the musician’s temperament changed in an instant.

“His eyes were like sweet blue and he was kind of gentle. And then they just… he looked like a possessed monster,” she said. “I mean like, black wide eyes and it was beyond anger. It was rage, it was rage.”
Huddleston and Morrison were in a relationship for four years after meeting backstage at a Doors concert in the late 1960s. Roker died aged 27 in July 1971, and Huddleston later reflected on their time together in a 1991 book. This is the end… My Only Friend: To Live and Die with Jim Morrison. She later updated and expanded the book in 2013, and published it under the title Love him madly.
“I definitely liked the idea of loving someone without being possessive or jealous,” she said in a 2015 interview with Medium, acknowledging the fact that Morrison had made it clear he never wanted to be her official “boyfriend.” “Secretly, I thought I’d win him over eventually… I didn’t realize the price I was paying, how convenient it was for him… I feel more sympathy for Jim than before – he seems so trapped. I don’t see a viable way out for him.”

Morrison, disillusioned with fame, played his last concert with The Doors in December 1970 and moved with long-term girlfriend Pamela Courson to Paris, where he hoped to concentrate on writing poetry. Courson – who died of a heroin overdose in 1974 – found the star dead in the bathtub of their apartment, and an autopsy was never performed.
Before the enddirected by Jeff Finn, explores what led Morrison down a self-destructive path while simultaneously trying to understand the complicated layers of who he was as a person.
Other members of his inner circle have alleged similar misconduct in the past; ex-girlfriend Pamela Des Barres said in the documentary that Morrison once slapped her at the Whiskey a Go Go “for no reason”, while ex-Doors bandmate John Densmore said Guard he once saw Morrison holding a knife to a woman with her hands behind her back.
“On the outside, Jim seemed normal. But he was aggressive toward life and toward women,” Densmore wrote in his 2020 book. Seekers.
