Palmer’s latest film, One of those days, also stars SZA in her acting debut. The former child star told PEOPLE in December that audiences will be “gapped” by her talent.
“Honestly, it’s so, so good. I’m really so proud of you and the movie. It’s all, for me, a match made in heaven.”
For her part, SZA told PEOPLE that working with Palmer made her debut a little easier, but it was still scary to try something new.
“I’m trying something brand new. All I can do is try my best, you know, and thank God for the opportunity and just kind of lean on it and take it as a growing experience,” SZA shared. “I have a lot of fears about being seen by the camera, the conversation, my voice [and] to be next to Keke, who is a superstar to so many.”
The duo play best friends in the Issa Rae-produced film. It arrives in theaters on January 17.
