Dylan’s 1976 version, with Harris on backing vocals, was released after the nation of Mozambique won independence from Portugal
Although Jimmy Buffett has had his way around the sun, he’s not done sharing his music.
In September, Buffett’s estate announced the late singer-songwriter’s upcoming final album Equal load on all parts and shared the release of three new songs — “Bubbles Up,” “Like My Dog” and “My Gummie Just Kicked In,” featuring Paul McCartney on bass.
On Friday, the estate shared two new songs, including a cover of Bob Dylan’s 1976 single “Mozambique” featuring Emmylou Harris. The playful attitude of the song is accompanied by acoustic guitar and drums.

Dylan’s version, on which Harris provided backing vocals, was released after the nation of Mozambique won independence from Portugal. However, it was a breezy song that didn’t focus on colonization.
With the release of Buffett’s take on “Mozambique,” the estate also shared behind-the-scenes footage of the “Margaritaville” singer and the “Spanish Dancer” musician, 76, recording the song in the studio with some shots of Buffett in a wetsuit holding his surfboard. surfing by the ocean.

The estate also shared the song “University of Bourbon Street” on Friday, which featured the Preservation Hall Jazz Band in addition to “Mozambique.” Buffett died on September 1 at the age of 76 from Merkel cell carcinoma.

In May, Buffett was forced to postpone a concert after being hospitalized in Boston “to address some issues that required immediate attention,” he told fans in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter).
“Aging is not for pussies, I promise you,” he said. ” I will also promise that when I am well enough to perform, I will be doing so in the land of crab soup. You all make my life more meaningful and fulfilling than I could ever imagine as [tow] a boy with a head sitting on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico.”
