Jimmy Fallon celebrated his 50th anniversary with a cupcake fest!
During The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, September 20, the late-night host read aloud a eulogy from announcer Steve Higgins and The Roots, including bandleader Questlove.
“Happy birthday to you,” Fallon read. “Dear Jimmy, we love you very much. In honor of your 50th birthday, we’d like to give you a ’50 cupcake salute’. Please get your safety goggles and belt and head for the floor.”
Standing in front of a balloon arch with a glittery cookie table in front of him, Fallon made a show by layering a blue and red suspender over his black suit — a move that drew excited squeals from several audience members.

“I don’t know what will happen. I don’t know what this is,” Fallon explained. “I think I do power be ready. Does anyone want to explain what’s going on?”
Rapper and singer Black Thought read from a parchment scroll. “Jimmy Fallon, in recognition of your 50th birthday milestone this September 19th, 20th at the age of 24, we give you the ’50 cupcake salute,'” he said. “Let the cookies begin!”
As the crew pelted Fallon with cookies, the late-night host threw up his hands, turned around and covered his face, laughing. “What is it wrong with you?” he said. “Who got into my head? Thank you very much. Thank you very much.”
However, there was another birthday surprise when Demi Lovato showed up carrying the last cookie.

“See, the thing is, it was only 49 cookies. Come here, Jimmy,” said Lovato, 32, before smashing her cookie into Fallon’s face and yelling, “Happy birthday!”
A beaming Fallon hugged Lovato and thanked everyone for their (messy) birthday wishes.
Elsewhere during Thursday’s episode, Lovato presented Fallon, still covered in cookie frosting, with a Fudgie the Whale cake.
After making a wish and blowing out the candles, he called for a cake.
“Fudgie Whale!” – he exclaimed. “That’s what I’m talking about. Demi, I love you.”
Hours before the episode aired, Fallon thanked fans as he celebrated his birthday, saying, “I’m turning 50 today.”
“I just want to say thank you for giving me this great life,” he shared on X (formerly Twitter). “I am very happy. I appreciate the applause, laughter and support, whether it was at one of my performances, walking down the street, at a basketball game in France or even stranded and lost in a Bavarian field.”
“I feel love and I love you back. Thank you for always supporting my every new idea,” he added. “You believing in me makes me believe in myself.”
