In the world of Jimmy Fallon, the holiday season is in full swing. Actually, for Tonight’s show host, 50, there’s no such thing as hearing a holiday jingle “too early.”
“[If] it makes you happy dress Mariah. Go for it!” he tells PEOPLE.
His love for the season and all of the music within it is evident on his recent album, holiday spice, which features guest musicians including Ariana Grande, The Jonas Brothers and of course, his good friend Justin Timberlake, with whom he was able to record during his world tour last summer at Electric Lady Studios in NYC. “Doing it with Justin was great,” he says. .
As for how he and his wife, Nancy Juvonen, 57, celebrate the season with their two daughters, Winnie, 11, and Frances, 9, Fallon admits they “tried a bunch of traditions and nothing stuck.”

One of the failed traditions, he remembers, was the one he took over from Gwen Stefani.
“We wrapped the door leading to the Christmas tree with wrapping paper so the kids had to run through it to get to the presents,” he says. “And it just became dangerous. They just run and almost fall into a tree….I didn’t want that. I don’t want anyone to get hurt.”

He adds that he tried to “stay away” from Elf on the Shelf as well, even though “everyone keeps sending them to me.”
In his house, however, one thing is certain, “we believe in Santa Claus,” he says, sharing that their secret to keeping the magic alive is “having a sense of humor and laughing.”
This year, the family of four will be decked out in P’Jimmies — Fallon’s new collaboration with Alex Mill — which the comedian calls “the coolest, comfiest thing you’ve ever seen.”
For the sweet campaign, which launched on Nov. 20, Fallon posed with his family of four in the colorful pajama sets he helped bring to life (with a portion of the proceeds going to Serious Fun, an organization that gives children with serious illnesses the chance to experience summer camp).

Alex Mill founder Alex Drexler tells PEOPLE that his brand and Fallon were a perfect fit for their second collaboration with P’Jimmies (“the first collection sold out immediately!” he recalls) because of how important family is to them.
“My mother and father [retail legend Mickey Drexler] having an ongoing weekly playdate with my daughter – it always involves something fun and imaginative,” he says. “My daughter is incredibly creative and constantly inspires me, so we absolutely loved the idea of Jimmy’s kids being part of his creative process . His whole family was so much fun to work with; the energy on set was fantastic.”
Fallon’s collaboration with Alex Mill is just one of the exciting partnerships he’s been working on in recent months. It also has a holiday spice collection from The Spice House (which includes a limited-edition gingersnap cocoa blend), SiriusXM radio and an upcoming holiday special that will air after the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 4 on NBC.

“It just happens strangely,” he says of his busy project schedule.
But amid his array of ventures, Fallon is sure to prioritize time with his family; for him, he says, “the memories are the best part of the holidays.”

“You grow up, you go through different stages. You say, ‘oh, those are gifts,'” he says. “And then the older you are, you go, it doesn’t matter, it is [about] be together”
This year’s memories will include the family’s series of hosting Thanksgiving dinners following his appearance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with The Roots.
For his portion of the meal, Fallon is on side dish duty, and for the past few years he’s been cooking up one of his grandmother’s favorite dishes: onion cream. And while he admits they’re not “necessarily good,” they’re still special: “I just think of my grandma and say, ‘Hey, we’re thinking of you.'”
