Jockey Levi Williams charged with murder after man, 71, died following 'altercation' in town centre

Jokej was charged with murder after a 71-year-old man died after a “re-” downtown.

The victim was transported to a hospital in a critical condition, but unfortunately passed away yesterday.

Williams is now charged with murder and today appeared in court for Ipswich offenses.

The driver is in custody the next day to appear at Cambridge Crown Court tomorrow.

23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attacking serious bodily harm, and a 45-year-old man who was suspected of Afray was full.

The horror took place on March 8 at about 3.40pm, when a quarrel reportedly broke out at High Street.

Two men – including a tragic 71 -year -old – were taken to a hospital for treatment.

One, 45 years old, was fired later that night, while the older victim had died since then.

Williams was arrested on suspicion of attacking serious bodily harm and afterwards saved.

He was re -arrested and taken to the Police Investigation Center Bury St. Edmunds to test after the death of man.

Williams was banned from racing 18 months in September 2023. After taking cocaine in the pub toilet three days before the race.

It was the second time he had banned him from sports for missing out on drug test.

Segrt Jockey said hearing after his first prohibition: “I didn’t really think. I was just stupid.”

It seems that Williams last competed in a race in Wolverhampton in May 2023.

He won 12 winners from 156 rides – with his four winners for Simon Dow the most he was driving for any coach.

Suffolka police said: “A 25-year-old man is charged with murder after a man who sustained serious injuries after an incident in New Markoket died in the hospital earlier this month.

“The 23-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of attacking serious bodily harm and a 45-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of Afray, both remained on a police bail until June 5 and 9.”
