Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner’s Kids Are Now Spending Time with Her amid Divorce Drama

The children of Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas lived with the actress amid the split of the former couple.

In the lawsuit filed Thursday in New York, obtained by PEOPLE, Turner asked that her two children — Willa, 3, and a daughter identified in previous court documents as D., 14 months — be returned to England.

The lawsuit also states that Turner and Jonas’ children now live with the actress after joining their musician father on his national tour this summer. “The children are currently temporarily physically placed with their mother in the Southern District of New York,” the document said.

Joe Jonas hits back at Sophie Turner’s claim she’s withholding daughter’s passports, says it’s ‘misleading’

In a statement released by Jonas and obtained by PEOPLE, the musician confirms Turner’s claim that their children were staying with her.

“After being in Joe’s care for the past three months by mutual agreement, the children are currently with their mother,” the statement said, citing Turner’s complaint.

Earlier this month, a source told PEOPLE that the couple’s daughters were living with Jonas because of Turner’s busy filming schedule last summer.

“She was shooting and that’s why the kids were with Joe,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “It was just easier because she worked for the kids to be with him because she has more support at home and on the road with his family. It’s something they both agreed was best.”

In early September, Jonas was photographed taking his two daughters to breakfast at Sweet Butter Kitchen in Sherman Oaks, California, in his first public outing since filing for divorce from Turner.

The girl’s father was carrying his older daughter Willa, while the woman was holding his second daughter. The “Hesitate” singer joked with his children, making funny faces and playing with his food as the four sat down to a pancake breakfast.

“They were normal. Totally normal,” a source told PEOPLE of Swift and Turner’s dinner date at Via Carota in Manhattan. – Everyone was excited, but they were normal.

After the meal, Swift and Turner went to Temple Bar on Lafayette Street. “Sophie seemed to be enjoying the night,” an onlooker told PEOPLE.

“Taylor is a great friend — Sophie can talk to her about anything,” another source told PEOPLE. “It encouraged Sophie to spend time with Taylor.”
