Hoda Kotb Recalls Meeting Her Police Officer Ex-Boyfriend in Laundromat: ‘It Was Hot’

Hoda Kotb reflects on a past romance.

In Thursday’s episode Today with Hoda and Jennadaytime host, 59, told her co-host Jenna Bush Hager, 41, about the “hot” way she met her police ex-boyfriend in a laundromat.

The conversation started with the two hosts talking about former couple Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello who announced their separation two months ago.

The magical mike the actor, 46, now “sees each other occasionally” Time to win actress Caitlin O’Connor. A source told PEOPLE on Tuesday that he and the 33-year-old actress met “in the hot tub” at an after party for the HBO series.

“I will say, sometimes that date after heartbreak makes you realize,” Hager admitted to her co-host. “Like, you don’t have to be in a serious relationship, but that first person, you’re like, ‘Oh, I still know.’

Kotb agreed, adding that sometimes people meet someone in a “post-breakup relaxed state” when they’re feeling “fragile.”

“And that person is a knight in shining armor,” she said. “I think I told you, that’s what happened to me. I had a terrible breakup and I was sitting in the laundry room and I was so upset. I still remember sitting there, hugging my knees, waiting for my laundry to finish. And the police officer came in. ”

She recalled that the policeman asked her if she was okay, to which she replied that she was not. Then, she explained, the two started dating.

“It was hot!” she stated.

Hager questioned what “mistake” her co-host was referring to, likening the situation to something straight out of a “Colleen Hoover novel.”

“We dated for a while, and then after a while I realized he was a savior,” Kotb recalled. “And after a while I didn’t need saving anymore. ‘I’m fine. This is me when I’m fine.’ And he said, ‘I’ll do it, I’ll help you’.”

Dnevnik explained that she eventually realized that she was actually a “strong person” who didn’t need any saving, and that her ex-boyfriend happened to meet her when she was in a fragile state.

“You need to go back to that laundry room,” Hager joked. “You never know who you’re going to meet!”

Manganiello filed for divorce from Vergara, 51, in July, citing “irreconcilable differences,” two days after they announced they were separating in a joint statement. The former couple were married for seven years and married in November 2015.

“I can’t complain. It was great, great,” added the actress. “There’s always time for more good things.”
