Joel Kim Booster 'Deeply Sorry' After Slamming Shannon Beador's Alleged Bad Behavior Filming Housewives Dating Show

Joel Kim Booster issued a public apology to Shannon Storms Beador on Friday, October 11, nearly two weeks after he shamed The Real Housewives of Orange County star on social media for allegedly harassing the crew at their upcoming Real Housewives dating show “as if they were subhuman”.

Actor, comedian and Fire island creator — who hosts the series, dubbed Love hotelwhich is set to air next year on Peacock — shared a lengthy statement on his Instagram Stories.

“I’ve had a lot of time to think and process this and I wish I could say I’m not the guy who posted those statements on Instagram, but the fact is I am,” he wrote. “I let the conflict that started cloud my judgment and I went to the darkest, ugliest part of me and said things I don’t stand by or believe, and I’m deeply sorry that I let the worst of me cloud my judgment.”

Booster then apologized to Beador, noting the problems she had after her arrest last September for an alleged DUI and hit and run.

“I know Shannon has had an extremely difficult year, as she bravely said, and as someone who has her own issues that have spilled over into work, I should have had more mercy for her at that moment,” he said. “I am deeply sorry for the way I made Shannon’s path to stability difficult and I hope she comes out on the other side of this stronger, healthier and with the love she deserves in her life.”

He concluded his statement by reiterating his sadness over the series-spoiling incident.

“I regret making this part of the story of our show, as I am deeply proud of the work, ladies and crew that went into it,” Booster wrote. “I love our amazing cast and production staff so much and I would go to war for every single one of them.”

Tamra Judge teases fans will be ‘surprised’ where she stands with Shannon Beador after RHOC The Reunion (Exclusive)

PEOPLE was the first to publish the news about Love hotel back in July. In addition to Storms Beador, the series will star Luann de Lesseps (The Real Housewives of New York) and The Real Housewives of Potomac Gizelle Bryant and Ashley Darby from OG. Filming took place in September in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Not much is known about what happened behind the scenes that prompted Booster’s claims about Storms Beador. But on September 29, he went live on Instagram and blasted her, saying she was horrible to work with, humiliated the team and was rude to someone at a party.

“Just because you’re a pathetic drunk on a reality show best known for a string of failed relationships and a DUI doesn’t make you a star and doesn’t give you license to treat the people you work with like they’re subhuman. Period,” he wrote in an accompanying Instagram Stories post .

Within minutes, Booster removed the post — but not before members of the media, including PEOPLE, saw the text. “Don’t regret it,” Booster later wrote. “I hope you took a screen shot. I hope he’s suffering.”

“Let’s just say I can’t imagine what John Janssen went through. Poor guy,” Booster added, referring to Storm Beador’s ex-boyfriend who is now engaged to her co-star, Alexis Bellin.

Representatives for Peacock had no comment when contacted by PEOPLE, but Storms Beador spoke about the incident on Oct. 3 during Shannon & Vicki Live! at the Irvine Improv in Irvine, California.

“I really don’t know what it is because the night before the closing party he had tears in his eyes and said ‘I’m so happy for you.’ … [So] It’s going to look really stupid for him because he’s only had love for me throughout the show,” Storms Beador, 60, said in a video shared by BravoBreaking News.

“It’s very unprofessional,” she continued. “What I’m sad about is that I’ve done some kind things on the show and people have said I’m kind, so it’s hard for me to walk away from an experience that I’ve really enjoyed and have that stuffiness. We’ll see what happens. I don’t know where it came from.

“I haven’t seen Shannon mistreat anyone,” she said. “So, you know, Joel apparently took offense over something very personal.”

She then noted that Booster privately apologized to everyone for the outburst. “He apologized to all of us, because it affects us all,” said the countess. “And, you know, listen, he must have made a mistake. People make mistakes. He faked it, you know, and then it was too late to take it back, and God knows we’ve all done that.”

“So I think this will be forgotten,” de Lesseps said. “And Joel was a good host. People are really going to love the show.”
