“Yesterday is the first time I’ve seen her perform in a few years, because every time I’ve wanted to go to one of her big shows, our schedules kind of fall apart,” King said on Despicable me 4 premiere, referring to Carpenter’s appearance at the Governors Ball music festival a few days earlier.

“I was literally sobbing after the show. I was so proud of her. She’s just amazing,” King added of her friend’s big moment.

“I’m so happy for her and I just can’t stop singing ‘Please Please Please’ … get out of my head,” King added of Carpenter’s hit song, which was produced by longtime Taylor Swift collaborator Jack Antonoff.

Carpenter’s music isn’t the only thing King can’t get enough of. She admitted that the video for “Please Please Please,” which stars Carpenter’s boyfriend, Barry Keoghan, was also “addictive.”

“It’s so rude of her to make such a hit. It’s also so rude to make such an infectious music video,” King quipped. “It’s really rude to make me watch it six times at 2:00 in the morning when I want to go to bed.”
