Love Is Blind’s Izzy Hired Financial Planner 1 Day Before Wedding to Stacy After She Was ‘Blindsided’ by Money Talk

Izzy Zapata had plans to prepare his financial future with Stacy Snyder before they broke off their engagement.

During an appearance on Nick Viall Viall files podcast, the Love is blind alum revealed that he met with a “financial advisor right away” after Stacy raised concerns about their monetary future.

“I was, like, ‘[This is] one more hurdle, like, I’m going to fix it,’ and that’s what I tried to do,” Izzy recalled.

Izzy and Stacy’s road to the altar started out great, but soon took a turn for the worse when Izzy, 31, learned about Stacy’s life in Houston. She began to criticize the way the sales clerk lived, including his “messy” apartment, drawer of random women’s things, and use of paper plates.

Stacy, 34, was also extremely concerned about Izzy’s finances and bad credit — especially since the operations director was used to a lavish lifestyle (as her father put it, “sometimes love wants to fly first class”).

Before their talk about finances on the show, Izzy revealed that Stacy bought a custom jacket with his last name on it in excitement for their upcoming wedding.

“And then there was that conversation about finances and she felt like I completely blindsided her,” he said on the podcast, recalling Stacy saying, “Oh my God, I feel like I can’t trust you.”

“We sat and talked about it, and she was very uncomfortable,” he continued. “I [told her] I had no debt, my student loans were paid off, I told her I was on a 1099 [tax form] because I transferred and I was doing insurance at the time, and she said, ‘You’re on a 1099 instead of a W-2?’”

According to Izzy, Stacy was concerned about the “lack of stability” because the 1099 doesn’t include work benefits.

“It kind of threw me for a loop,” he admitted. “Like hell, I didn’t get it. … The only thing that is bad is that I have bad credit [because] I got my tickets when I was 18 [or] 19, I was screwing it up and my credit was bad.”

During Love is blind In the Season 5 finale, Izzy and Stacy finally made it to the altar as they decided whether to tie the knot or potentially end their relationship for good. For Izzy, the answer was a resounding yes. But while he agreed to marry Stacy, she ultimately turned him down, citing lack of time as their biggest problem.

Izzy said he understood her perspective and still loved her – the pair even kissed at the altar. But while they appeared to be on good terms and potentially trying to date again, Izzy later went off on Stacy in front of the cameras after he finally had a moment to register his emotions.

“It’s like he’s always trying to find something wrong,” he said in a confessional interview. “It was like all the outside s— was coming at her and I was blocking it all out. Looks, money, drama. I just focused on her… The whole point of this [experiment] is, does it matter? Does creditworthiness matter? Does the car I drive matter? Does it matter where I go to fucking dinner? None of that matters to me. This makes me wonder: ‘Why are you 33 years old and single?’ I’m 29 years old and I can give you everything that a fucking rich, 45-year-old man you’re always chasing and always failing at can’t give you.”

Love is blind’with Stacy on Izzy’s ‘Big Mistake’ — and Why His Wedding ‘Surprised’ Her (Exclusive)

Earlier this month, Izzy told PEOPLE that his true feelings began to dawn on him while being questioned by producers.

“When we were down the aisle, I was still optimistic about things, even though she said no at that point,” he explained. “I thought we’d still be together after the wedding, so I said, ‘Okay, we’ve been through this together.'”

“But I think it changed when I had to do the interview and [was] I’m just thinking about what the hell just happened when they pulled me over,” he continues. “So when I’m sitting there and they’re asking me questions, I’m like, ‘Damn. F— this. This is s—ty.’ I was so hurt that I finally let my emotions sit.”
