Wendy Williams’ $3.75M New York Penthouse, Where She Was Found Unresponsive in 2020, Has Sold at a Loss

Wendy Williams’ penthouse in New York has been sold.

An apartment belonging to a TV personality, who recently said she is in a care facility and has been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, has been sold by her court-appointed legal guardian.

Property records show Williams bought the apartment in Manhattan’s Financial District in June 2021. According to Zillow, she paid just over $4.5 million for it at the time, and it sold for just $3.75 million earlier this month.

Built in 2016, the two-story, 2,403-square-foot property has three bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Wendy Williams’ guardian demands ex Kevin Hunter pay back $112,000 in divorce settlement after claiming he hasn’t been paid in 23 months

Details of Williams’ current financial holdings have not been made public. PEOPLE previously obtained documents from the New York Department of Finance filed on Feb. 8 that show there was a $568,451.57 tax lien on the apartment, accrued between 2019 and 2021.

Williams’ legal and financial guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, and ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, could not be reached for comment.

Before selling the apartment, Williams did not live in the residence. In May 2020, she was found unresponsive in her home The Wendy Williams Show deejay DJ Boof, PEOPLE previously reported. She was later rushed to the hospital, where she needed several blood transfusions.

This was followed by the end of her show — without Williams on screen — in 2022 after 13 seasons.

Her family has since shared her diagnoses with PEOPLE and that she currently remains in a nursing facility, adding that her court-appointed legal guardian is the only person who has unfettered access to her.

Her life between August 2022 and April 2023 was documented for the Lifetime series, Where is Wendy Williams? The docu-series chronicled the former host’s life after her self-titled talk show was canceled due to alcohol addiction and several health issues, including Graves’ disease and lymphedema.

Attorneys for Williams’ guardian allege in court documents that Lifetime “falsely states that [Williams] is ‘broke’ and cruelly implies that her disoriented behavior is the result of substance abuse and drinking.” Court documents also reveal that Williams was paid $400,000 to appear in the film.
