John Amos' Final Role Was in Suits: L.A. — See the First Look

John Amos will appear posthumously in the upcoming Suits: LA series — his last role before his death on Aug. 21.

In the first photo, the Emmy-nominated actor appears as himself in the highly anticipated legal drama, though no plot details have been revealed. Amos can be seen sitting in front of a desk in what appears to be a law office as he gazes off into the distance.

Amos has made his final screen appearance in April 2024, according to Deadline. TV Line was the first to break the story.

It’s October 1st Good times alum Kelly’s son Christopher “KC” Amos revealed that he died of natural causes in Los Angeles on Aug. 21 in a statement shared with PEOPLE. While thinking about his father’s legacy, KC also discovered that Amos was a part of it Suits: LA.

“It is with sincere sadness that I share with you that my father has changed his life,” KC wrote. “He was a man of the kindest heart and a heart of gold … and he was loved all over the world.”

He continued: “Many fans consider him their television father. He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding work in television and film as an actor.”

“My father loved to work as an actor all his life,” he added. “Lately in Fits LA playing himself and our documentary about his life journey as an actor, American Dad. He was my dad, my best friend and my hero. Thank you for your prayers and support at this time.”

According to a death certificate obtained by PEOPLE, the late actor died of congestive heart failure. There were no other significant medical conditions that contributed to his death and no autopsy was performed.

On July 19, NBCUniversal announced Suits: LA — an upcoming spinoff set in the same universe as the original legal drama, Suits — taken for serial order.

Arrow alum Stephen Amell will lead the cast as Ted Black, a “former New York federal prosecutor” who has “reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles,” according to the show’s official description.

“His company is at a crisis point and in order to survive he must accept a role he has despised his entire career,” the description continues. “Ted is surrounded by an all-star cast of characters who test their loyalty to Ted and to each other, until they can’t help but mix up their personal and professional lives.”

The cast will also include The living dead actor Josh McDermitt as Stuart Lane, co-founder of Black Lane Law, and Lex Scott Davis as Erica Rollins, “a smart and strong rising star who works for Ted Black,” according to Deadline.

Other cast members include Troy Winbush as Kevin, Alice Lee as Leah and Bryan Greenberg as Rick Dodsen.
