John Legend Celebrates Daughter Esti’s First Birthday: ‘She’s Been Lighting Up the House Since Day One’

John Legend is celebrating a milestone for his family of six!

The musician, 45, celebrated daughter Esti Maxine’s first birthday with a heartfelt post he shared on Instagram on Saturday.

“Esti Maxine is ONE today!” Legend wrote in his caption. “She lights up the house from day one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

In one photo shared, Esti smiled as she sat next to a towering birthday cake with pink and brown frosting.

In other snaps, Esti was captured kissing her reflection in the mirror, wearing large heart-shaped glasses and sitting on the floor next to a book titled ‘Dada’ as she flashed an adorable smile.

The legend and wife Chrissy Teigen have daughters Esti and Luna Simone, 7, plus sons Miles Theodore, 5, and Wren Alexander, 6 months.

Teigen, 38, announced Estia’s arrival last January via an Instagram post. She then wrote: “She’s here! Esti Maxine Stephens – the house is busy and our family couldn’t be happier 💕.”

Double the fun for Chrissy and John and DeNiro’s new addition: the brightest celebrity babies of 2023.

“Daddy cries tears of joy every night seeing Luna and Miles so loving and I’m learning you still need diapers after a C-section!? We’re in bliss,” Teigen continued. “Thank you for all the love and well wishes – we feel everything! X.”

Speaking with WSJ. Magazine for his “My Monday Morning” series last February, Legend explained that he had an “emotional” time when Esti first came home.

“This was the first time our children were at the Ronald McDonald House. We made our mochi pancakes, one of Chrissy’s recipes. And a lot of the kids that were there, some were patients, some were siblings of patients, but our kids quickly bonded with all of them,” he said. “They played basketball with them, had a good time. I enjoyed watching them.”

Legend also said that there was an important lesson in that party. “We try to teach them that it’s important to give back and help other people,” he explained. “They went with us to help feed the hungry, they went with us to homeless shelters. We’re trying to teach them to appreciate what they have and to know that there are a lot of people who don’t have the privileges that they have, so we should do everything we can to help them.”
