Johnny Depp brings the chaotic life of an artist to the screen.
Starring Riccardo Scamarcio and Al Pacino Modi: Three days on the wing of madnessdirected by Depp, based on Dennis McIntyre’s play about the Italian painter Amede Modigliani. Scamarcio, 44, is the titular artist, while Pacino, 84, plays art collector Maurice Gangnat.
The recently released trailer immerses viewers in Paris in 1916, when the art world was at a turning point.
“Just because you can paint on canvas doesn’t make you an artist,” Pacino’s character challenges Modigliani. “That doesn’t even make you a painter.”

Written by Jerzy Kromolowski, Mary Olson-Kromolowski and McIntyre, Fashion chronicles “a chaotic series of events in the streets and bars of war-torn Paris during World War I,” according to a press release from Depp’s production company IN.2 Film.
“On the run from the police, Modi’s desire to end his career and leave the city was rejected by fellow Bohemians. Chaos reaches a climax when he confronts a collector who could change his life.”

“Going on this cinematic journey as a director Fashion has been an incredibly fulfilling and transformative experience,” Depp, 61, previously said in a statement in January. “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the entire cast, crew and producers for their unwavering commitment and creativity.”
Referring to longtime friend Pacino, he added: “Alu, who asked me to do this movie — how could I turn Pacino down? Sincere recognition for generously contributing your talent and dedication to this project.”
Speaking with PEOPLE about their collaboration, Pacino called Pirates of the Caribbean star “very creative and fun to work with… He’d just say, ‘Here we go. A couple of small children.’ He is wild. He’s wonderful.”

During a San Sebastian Film Festival press conference on September 24, Depp alluded to his defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard by explaining his personal connection to Modigliani.
“Everyone has their own story. Of course, we can say that I went through a series of things here and there,” he said in a video he shared on Instagram The Hollywood Reporter. “I think we’ve all been through a lot of things, ultimately. Maybe yours wasn’t, it wasn’t turned into a soap opera, television, really.”
Fashion also starring Antonia Desplat, Ryan McParland, Bruno Gouery, Luisa Ranieri and Stephen Graham. After its premiere in San Sebastián and at the Rome Film Festival, it will be in cinemas in 2025.
