JoJo Siwa is perfectly fine with disrupting the status quo with her outfits.
“I think for me, when I’m finding my style, it’s, ‘How can I be so messed up, so weird, so wacky?’ For me, that’s something I’m having a lot of fun with,” the Dance moms alum says in a new episode of PEOPLE Rules for life series.
Turning heads is often her goal and she always wants others to ask themselves: “Why is she wearing that, what is she doing, what is she wearing now?” when they see her appearance. “It’s a fun game for me,” she adds.
And while clothing is a great way for Siwa to express her creativity, it’s the same with makeup, which she thinks can make an outfit that much more “memorable.”
“It really has the potential to really make or break a look, whether you’re afraid to take it to that next level or not.”

From being dazzled in head-to-toe rainbow gemstones at LA Pride to decked out in KISS-inspired rock star glam, Siwa often puts this philosophy into practice on and off stage.
You’d also see her rocking sparkly green makeup at Christian Cowan’s New York Fashion Week show on Sept. 8 (because even if you weren’t there, her outfit — a furry costume with lime green monster boots — sure made a splash online).
“It’s crazy that I’m wearing a fur ball, but the green makeup is what overdid it,” she said, referring to the neon eyeshadow she wore on her lids and browbones.

At the end of the day, Siwa is pretty much “willing to try anything”.
“I’m like, imagine as weird as you can, or as crazy as you can do or something that you’re too scared to ever do before and that’s what I want to do.”
