Jock Singh (real name Nishant Tanwar) is a famous Indian comedian and live broadcaster. He is one of the most outstanding stand-up comedians in India and is considered to be the pioneer of Indian stand-up comedy.

After completing college in Jamnagar, Nishant started working at a BPO in Gurgaon in 2003. It was here that he first met Rukshi. Rukshi quit that job to study mass communications and later joined NDTV as a television producer. Nishant followed her to NDTV and got a job as an intern there. Soon, he was promoted to assistant producer.

Nishant started open mic performances in 2009. In 2012, he quit his job at NDTV to pursue stand-up comedy full time.

Nishant’s career had a rocky start. In a special interview on the ‘Mahacool Tour’, he said:
Papa ne ek cousin bhaiya ke saath business join karne ka idea diya. Wo bhi samajh mein nahi aaya kyonki bachpan se kuch alag, kuch apna aur kuch aukaat se bahar karne ka mann tha. Jamnagar chor kar delhi mein call center mein job ki kuch saal survival karne ke liye. Uske baad ek news channel my work is lagging. Wahan par kaam karte Hue saath mein Delhi ke Malviya Nagar mein ek chota sa restaurant khola. Kaafi sahi chal raha tha jab tak ek din sealdrive mein wo bhi seal ho gaya. After that I tried to launch an online portal. It couldn’t even go live due to my lack of planning and business sense. Kaafi failure dekhe hain par aukaat se bahar kaam karne ki aadat nahi gayi. As of 2020, Nishant has performed in 14 countries including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, etc. He is one of the very few Indian comedians to appear on Comedy Central and the popular TV show Comedy Dad. Amazon Prime released his two comedy specials Dilli Se Hoon B*@!&#%D in 2018 and Gaadi Tera Bhai Chalayega in 2019.
Nishant also does improvisational comedy, which is a genre of comedy where the performances are done without a plan or script. He even founded IPL (Improvisational Premier League), one of the best improvisational comedy groups in Delhi. He started a show called Please Interrupt, which is based on the interaction between comedians and the audience.

- Nishant was an introvert in school. In an interview, he said:
I was the youngest in the class and everyone bullied me. Humor has always been a defense mechanism against bullying because I often told jokes to the bullies that had no answer. That’s how my sense of humor was gradually formed.”
- In 2012, while working for NDTV, Nishant was featured on page 3 of a newspaper while doing a talk show. His boss gave him an ultimatum that if he wanted to continue doing the talk show, he had to quit. He chose the talk show over his job, and according to him, it was the best decision he ever made.
- Nishant has 3 tattoos on his body. One tattoo is on his right bicep and it says “JOKE” with a microphone in the middle. Another tattoo is on his right arm and on his left bicep there is a Chinese character.
- Nishant is an avid fan of hip-hop music. In 2020, he released his first rap song, Mere Desh Ki Kahani, to celebrate the 74th anniversary of India’s independence.
- He has a podcast on his YouTube channel called “Mahacool baatein” where he interviews other stand-up comedians and influencers.
