Jonathan Bailey’s Horse in Wicked Is the Same One in Bridgerton: ‘He’s a Legend’

Jonathan Bailey made sure to bring one Bridgerton castmate to the Wicked set.

Bailey, 36, asked his previous animal counterpart, Jack the horse, to join him on the set of the new movie musical.

The actor revealed the episode of the series on Tuesday, November 5 The Popcorn Podcast that he worked with Jack on the Netflix series. Then on Monday, November 11, it is official Wicked The TikTok account shared a sneak peek of Bailey as Prince Fiyer Tigelaar in the upcoming movie musical, with the actor’s voice describing his and Jack’s relationship.

“I went around to see [Wicked director] Jon M. Chu before we started shooting, and I told him, I said, ‘I think I know who the horse is.’ And he said, ‘What do you mean?’ ”

Bailey explained: “That’s Jack, the horse I was riding Bridgertonwith whom I had an amazing relationship.”

The TikTok post cut to a short clip from the upcoming Bailey film as his character Fiyero arrives in the woods on horseback.

“People say, don’t work with children and animals. But if it’s Jack, I’d say, ‘Take the job. He’s a legend,’ Bailey concluded.

Bailey said The Popcorn Podcast presenter Tim Iffland that he and Jack had “built a trust and a relationship”.

“He’s incredibly focused and can be a very stable stage partner,” he said.

Bailey added that with Jack as his scene partner, he “felt confident that he was kind of going for gold” with Fiyer’s entry. “I thought you knew you had to start with a strong entrance.”

Bailey, who plays the lead love interest in the musical, previously told PEOPLE that he rehearsed one of the film’s bigger musical numbers while on set Bridgerton and Companions.

“I have videos on my phone of me working out on long flights,” Bailey said in a new PEOPLE special Wicked release of his character’s big dance rehearsal, “Dance Through Life,” among his other projects.

Bailey is acting Wicked with Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. (The original Broadway cast of the musical featured Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel in the roles. Norbert Leo Butz originated the role of Bailey on Broadway.)

The long-awaited film also stars Ethan Slater as Boq, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Peter Dinklage as Dr. Dillamond, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Bowen Yang as Pfannee and Bronwyn James as ShenShen.
