dispute

Kiron Ahmed v. New York City Department of Health

In May 2011, Kiran Ahmed filed a complaint against New York City Health Hospital Corporation, Coney Island Hospital, Shandanu Rastogi, Soofia Rubbani, Jonathan Sheindlin and Mark Harooni. The complainants sued them for medical malpractice, claiming they failed to provide adequate care for the infant’s retinal disease, resulting in retinopathy of prematurity and retinal detachment. The defendant asked the court to dismiss the case, which required the defendant to prove that the plaintiff was not harmed by any wrongdoing. In response, the complainant submitted an expert affidavit that was unsupported by evidence but failed to prove anything of substance. Accordingly, the court granted the defendants’ motion for summary judgment and dismissed the action against them.
