On July 28, 2020, more than a month after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Rajput’s father KK Singh visited the police station in Rajiv Nagar, Patna. Rhea filed an FIR and a four-member team of Patna police went to Mumbai to interrogate Rhea Chakraborty and her family members. In the FIR, Sushant’s father made serious allegations against Rhea. According to KK Singh, Rhea kept Sushant away from his family and she had complete control over Sushant. Sushant’s father also claimed that Rhea also controlled Sushant’s bank accounts and she had access to his credit cards. He further mentioned in the flight information report,
Sushant calls his sister and tells her that Rhea has threatened him to show the doctor’s receipt to the media, which will prove that he is crazy. After that, no one wanted to give him a job. On the evening of June 8, Sushant’s secretary Disha committed suicide. Rhea appoints her as Sushant’s secretary. Rhea later blocked Sushant’s mobile number. Sushant was worried that Rhea might hold him responsible for the manager’s suicide as she threatened to frame him in the secretary’s suicide case. “
Earlier, Rhea had requested Home Minister Amit Shah to launch a CBI probe into Sushant’s alleged suicide case. A dispute erupted between the Maharashtra police and the Bihar police after the Bihar police launched a separate investigation into the actor’s death. Later, various online activities surfaced calling for a CBI probe into the matter. These movements are fueled by many conspiracy theories.
In August 2020, the Center told the Supreme Court that it had accepted the Bihar government’s recommendation to conduct a CBI probe into the actor’s death. Later, the CBI filed a first information report (FIR) against Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, common friend Samuel Miranda and three others. The Confederation of Indian Industry said in a statement,
On the request of the Government of Bihar and further notification from the Government of India, the CBI registered a case related to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and took over the investigation of the case which was earlier registered at the Patna Rajiv Nagar police station on date for FIR no.241/2020 dated July 25, 2020. The case is against six defendants and others. ”
She is also under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with the investigation into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Both agencies summoned her and questioned her for several hours. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested her on September 8, 2020, after questioning her for three consecutive days. The NCB said its investigation was based on WhatsApp chats retrieved from Rhea Chakraborty’s phone, in which they found conversations regarding procurement of drugs, allegedly for Sushant Singh Rajput. The NCB also alleged that on the orders of Rhea and Showik Chakraborty, Dipesh Sawant (housekeeper of Sushant Singh Rajput) collected and transported a total of 165 grams of cannabis between March 2020 and June 2020. She was booked under Section 27 A of the CrPC. Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. On the same day, the magistrate court remanded her to judicial custody for 14 days and she was shifted to Byculla jail on September 9, 2020 (Wednesday) after spending the night at the NCB office on September 8, 2020 (Tuesday). Rhea moved the special court after the magistrate’s court rejected her bail plea. In her plea, she claimed she was innocent and accused the NCB of “wrongly implicating” her in the case. On September 11, 2020, the special court also rejected her bail request. After nearly a month, she was granted cash bail of Rs. On October 7, 2020, the Bombay High Court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Rhea and her brother Showik have been named in the draft chargesheet filed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the drugs case related to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death (Showik) et al. On July 13, 2022, she was charged by the NCB in the drug case involving Sushant Singh Rajput. Rhea was charged with purchasing and financing a small amount of marijuana, according to the agency.
