This holiday season, Josh Groban wants to help connect families with children in need.
CBS announced on Nov. 14 that the 43-year-old singer will host Josh Groban and friends are going home for the holidaysfestive special featuring performances by Groban, as well as James Bay, Jennifer Hudson, Tori Kelly and The War and Treaty.
Filmed at the Bram Goldsmith Theater at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles, the program will also focus on America’s foster care system and feature a family adopting a child live on air.

“I’m honored and excited to host the show with friends old and new to celebrate the unity and togetherness of the holidays,” Groban said in a statement. “It’s especially important because it’s going to spread the word about adoption and it’s going to show the most amazing kids.”
He added: “I can’t wait for everyone to watch with their families, sing along and hopefully make room in their hearts and homes for a child in need.”
Josh Groban and friends are going home for the holidays will air on December 20 at 9pm on CBS.

The musician is likely to perform selections from his successful 2007 holiday album. Christmasfeaturing classics like “Silent Night,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “The Christmas Song” and more.
Groban’s CBS special isn’t the only way he’s been helping kids lately. Last month, he performed at the annual benefit concert for his arts education charity, the Find Your Light Foundation, at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York.

“The greatest gift of working with students or teaching is how much it enriches you,” he told PEOPLE ahead of the Oct. 29 event. “You think you’re going into the environment as someone who has experience and knowledge, and you’re here to pass that knowledge on to other people. But the secret is that you actually get just as much, if not more, from these kids.”
Then Groban continued: “As someone who has been in this business since the age of 17, I am constantly reminded to stay where the light is in my own life.”
